FREE CONE ON MAY 2! http://www.benjerry.com/indexg.tmpl
Join the fun at Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops across the country, across the
border, & across the sea, and get a free cone or dish of Ben & Jerry's ice
cream! What's the catch? There isn't one! It's Ben & Jerry's annual
"thank you" to all our customers, a free-for-all event first run in
Burlington, Vermont, by Ben and Jerry, to celebrate their first year in
business -- and the customers who supported them -- by giving away ice
cream all day to anyone who dropped by the old renovated gas station that
was their first home in 1979. Over 20 years later, Free Cone Day's gone
global -- which means not only are we on a mission to say "thank you" with
free ice cream across the U.S., but now we're getting pretty good at
pronouncing it in several other languages too. Who says there's no such
thing as a free lunch...or dinner...or both, depending on how many times
you want to toe the party line....

Visit our website to find a scoop shop near you. http://www.benjerry.com/scoop/

Lick Illiteracy Now: Baskin-Robbins' First Book Treat

Go to the Baskin Robbins web site ( http://www.baskinrobbins.com/promo/index.shtml ) and read about
Free Scoop Night, May 2, from 6-10 p.m., where
participating stores across the country will give a scoop of ice cream to
customers. Use the locator at the Baskin-Robbins
web site to find out where participating stores are located in your area.

For each scoop given away, Baskin-Robbins will make a donation to the First
Book Literacy Project, which provides free books to
low-income children via a variety of community programs throughout the U.S.
Last year they distributed over four million books
to kids to read.

Susan, I was just about to post the same info (though I didn't know about the B&J offer, just B&R)... you beat me to it. Anyway, I've had a reminder hanging on my refrigerator for over a week, waiting for May 2. I've been good as far as not indulging too much lately, so I owe myself a little treat tomorrow!

Andrea ~ How funny...I;ve been going to B & J's the past 3 years for Free Cone Day but didn't know about the BR offer until tonight when my librarian friend e-mailed me about it! Tomorrow is ice cream day for sure! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Wahoooeee!!! Free ice cream! I'm actually a volunteer literacy tutor, too, so I have an extra good reason to go. Maybe I'll map out all the B&J and BR shops on my route home from work and hit them all. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif Thanks for the great news! Now, I just have to decide on the flavor...

I see that my birthday is just one day after Free Ice Cream Day. This cannot be a coincidence.

This city has a population of 200,000, it is in the dairy state for goodness sake, and there isn't a SINGLE Baskin-Robbins here! I think local ice cream makers must have a lock on everything.

Ahh, it's just as well. I imagine that there will be chaos throughout the land at these ice-cream shops.

Sadly...no ice cream is 'free' when you're on a diet! And there's a Baskin-Robbins right down my block!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif How will I drive by??

Nothing like a B&J Toffee Heath Bar crunch cone for lunch!!! Oh well, it's just another 113 miles on the treadmill tonight

I had Coffee Heath Bar crunch for lunch too! How funny! And I too have started planning how to work it off (as I sit here munching on my Pirate's Booty as an afternoon snack). http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

At our local Ben & Jerry's, all these preschool and daycare groups came for free cones. I think there must have been 50 or 60 little kids sitting outside, covered in ice cream. Very cute!

schuh,
I know what you mean about no Ben & Jerry's. Big bummer. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/mad.gif Where in western NY are you? I'm from Buffalo originally. Oh well, B&R is a mile away, so I guess that's where I'll be tonight. Although, my ultimate favorite is homemade ice cream (which is nowhere NEAR light... except maybe in color!) from the local dairy stands.
