DS brings his laptop to show me the screen the other day. The LCD screen looks "cracked", as in shattered. It does have the look of a graphic. I've googled and did not come up with anything and he's run a virus check that didn't show anything.
Any ideas?

I am by no means a computer expert, but I googled "computer LCD problems" and came up with this....does this sound like your problem?
"I have a compaq presario 1700 and the screen is messed up. It was not stepped on, dropped or mishandled in any way. There are no cracks in the LCD or nothing. The screen varies in colors from time to time...with sometimes all black with 2 green lines across it. I used both the S-video hookup and the monitor hookup and the laptop works fine on those. But i am unable to get the LCD working. ALthough one time i closed the laptop and opened it and what was on my monitor was frozen on the laptop screen which was kinda weird. I cant figure out the problem and im hoping i dont need to replace the whole screen. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks"
If so, this was their reply:
Replace the flat cable from the laptop to the LCD.
I had a friend who used this website( to get her answer to a computer problem...A computer guy built computer for her with left over stuff around his shop when she had paid for a top of the line computer. They helped her figure out what she had and determine it was pretty worthless. They were really helpful to her.
Good luck!

No other idea's, huh?
Thanks for your research, Joyce. I've seen screens that are going bad as your link described, and this if definatly not that. Actually looks like a "shatter" beneath the skin of the screen.
Guess I'll have to suggest that DS bite the bullet and take it in :(

I forgot to post earlier that I did a little looking online and didn't turn up anything either. I even checked Norton's list of current viruses and did a search there as well. Nothing.
Let us know what you find out....I'm curious.....
