Any War of the World fans out there?

I just read a few reviews giving it 3 stars. I really love the original so I dont know if I will like this though. I am not much on seeing remakes. One thing I always remember about the first is that menacing noise the robots make and then when they blast things. I am hoping they kind of use the same sound effects, I just thought thats what made the movie scary.

oh and one review did say its hard to grasp TCs character as an ordinary joe schmo since he has been in the media so much recently.

I've never seen the movie (new or old) but I did love the book. Read it years ago, when I was about 10. I don't know if I want to see the movie and let it tamper with my imagination's perception of the story.

I may rent it through netflix when it comes out but will not see it in the theatres; 1-price of tickets and 2-Tom Cruise.

Ive never seen the original.

all of the reviews say the special effects are awesome, so that may push me to see it and in the theatre, but first on my list I still havent seen is star wars.

I have never read the book, will have to pick that up and read it.
