Hello,
I was planning on making the Buttermilk Apple cake tonight. However, I see the recipe calls for Granny Smith. I only have Fuji. Will this make a big difference in the taste? They are more mild than Granny Smith. ANy suggestions?
Thanks!

I have made this cake before and I don't see a problem with using fuji apples. It will be more sweet than tart. Enjoy! This is yummy!
I made this last night and used delicious apples. I just cut the cooking time down from 5 to 3 minutes and it worked out fine. Was a big hit in our house.
i think a lot of CL's apple recipes call for granny smith because they are very firm and do well when you cook them (i could be wrong, but that's my guess...) you could probably use any kind of apple. you just might want to adjust the cooking time so the apples don't get too mushy.
