I have a question about content. My jar advertises its 1000 mg, but tehn on the back it says coral calcium 1000 mg, and below that says elemental value 375 mg and percentage of daily value is 37%
Does this mean I am only getting 375 mg of calcium? if so then how can they advertise it at 1000 mg?
thanks

How many pills are a recommended dose, and how many doses per day? I don't know of any calcium supplement that comes in 1000mg pills, that would probably be hard to swallow. My calcium supplement recommends 3 pills as a dose, but the nutritional info listed is for 1 pill.

Also, supposedly you can't absorb more than 500mg at a time. So, you would want to split it up into small doses throughout the day. I take a multivitamin with calcium in the morning and then a 500mg calicum chew at night.

thats the reason I bought it, I thought wow, I can get 1000 mg in one pill thats not a horse pill and its a powdered pill too. its does say 1 to 3 capsules a day though, I didnt see that, normally they would say something like 1000 mg and a serving would be 2 500 mg

Tyra's right, you can only absorb 500mg of calcium at a time, so I always recommend clients space it out over the day (keeping in mind you absorb it best at night).
It's hard without seeing the label myself, but there can be a difference (although yours seems to have a huge difference) between how much of a mineral something contains, and how bio-available that mineral is (i.e. how much of it you can absorb).

thanks for the info, I have heard you can only absorb 500 mg of vatimin C at at time but not calcium. I think this was a cheap bottle, I like it because it was in powdered form and not those horse pills that sit in my stomach all day
Now that I think of it I remember reading a good thread here about the quality of calcium, now I need to see if I can find it.
