We are having some friends over on Sunday. I bought some very lovely depression sherbet glasses at an antique store today and plan to incorporate them in my dessert. This is what I have planned so far. One of our guests takes a lot of meds for Alzheimers and various ailments associated with aging. I will not add alcohol to her dessert.

apptizer
bruschetta
shrimp?

salad
I'm thinking maybe a spinach with strawberries , goat cheese, toasted nuts, red onion, etc. with a raspberry vinagerette

chicken on the grill- spatch cocked[I love that word
;) ] with olive oil, and herbs

tomato gorgonzola cream pasta

dessert in my cute little sherbet glasses/cups

trifle with maybe mandarin oranges, custard pudding , a drizzle of triple ssec, pound cake or angel food cake and cool whip [I know  These would be individual servings. Additions/ deletions?

I think your menu sounds great, with options for both protein and carb lovers alike. Also sounds very low-stress and doable.

Care to point me in the direction of that pasta recipe? Sounds delicious!

Missindi , I wish I could link you to the recipe from the CLBB, but I don't know how. So, here is the name of the thread. Pasta with tomato- gorgonzola cream by Vicanddi. It was posted in Feb. 2004. I have never made it, but those who did gave great reviews.

Your menu looks great! Can I come over? ;)

How about a sorbet for your depression glasses? There is one posted on the ice cream thread for a mai tai sorbet- looks divine. You could eliminate the rum until the last minute and drizzle it over the top.

No problem. You gave me enough info to find the recipe. Here (http://community.cookinglight.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54158&highlight=gorgonzola) it is, in case anyone else is interested. Don't know how I missed it the first go-around, but it sounds delicious!
