I am Sooooo excited and am already jotting down the restaurant recommendations from here!!! i'm so eager to have a po'boy and muffeletta!!! okay, i can't spell it but i'll eat it!

Here's my question: my dad LOVEs crawfish and hasn't had them for decades. I want to send him a gift -- do they pack up crawfish in NO in coolers and send it cross country (CA)?

Thanks so much!

Do you mean you want to bring it home with you as opposed to ordering some? Below are 2 links that you can order from. When I was in NO I don't remember seeing markets that sold crawfish and would pack it for you but I probably wasn't in the right places for something like that. I know in Seattle it is very easy to buy fresh salmon even at the grocery store, and have it packed in dry ice so you can travel with it for a day or two. I am sure if you call your hotel concierge and ask them, they may be able to tell you were to go.

I am jealous - I love New Orleans!!

Don't know the answer to your question, but have a great trip and enjoy! Never been to NO myself.

No, I definitely didn't want to travel with them! I just wanted to find the most yummy crawfish, pay, and have them send it to daddy!!

I'm so excited for him to enjoy them!

When are you coming to New Orleans? Crawfish are a seasonal food item and they are currently out of season. Any crawfish you get now would be farmed or not Louisiana crawfish. You should be able to get pre-cooked crawfish tails frozen (for pastas and gumbo type dishes) at any of the seafood markets - just be sure to get Louisiana crawfish and not Chinese. The imported Chinese tails are rubbery and overly fishy in taste.
