We are having a cookout Saturday and our mosquitos are worse this year than ever. I just went to Home Depot and stocked up on citronella buckets and those torch things for around the pool, but DH was talking about some kind of concentrated spray that would keep insects away for 24 hours. Does this ring any bells?
Any mosquito help would be greatly appreciated. It's not usually this bad here.
TIA!

I think Off sells a yard spray (Yard Guard?) that you spray the area with ahead of time. It's basically a mini yard fogger. I know folks who have used it, and it does seem to help. There is a heated lamp they are advertising a lot this year. I haven't tried that one, but they say it is up to 15 times more effective than citronella.
We got one of those things that uses a propane tank after not being able to walk outside last summer. The flower bed with the azaleas in front of the front porch must have stayed just damp enough without any puddles, because we couldn't get rid of the mosquitoes and we couldn't go sit on the front porch at all. We haven't been terribly prompt about replacing used up tanks, but it has still made a huge difference. It takes a few weeks to see a big difference thoug -- not going to help for this weekend.

One way to keep away mosquitos is with moving air. Do you have or can you rent a large fan to put outside? We put one on our deck when we want to eat outside. Of course, you would not want to put one where it could fall into the pool........
