Made this last night from the May issue.
Very good, another option for roasted asparagus. The sesame flavor from the oil really came through, but did not overpower as it sometimes can.

It sounds great. Wienie, could you post the recipe, please? I have not yet received my May issue and I'd like to try the recipe out before our next supper club.

Hmmmm...This looks good! Think I'll make it Sunday night. NydiaC - Here is the recipe:
Sesame-Roasted Asparagus
36 asparagus spears
1 1/2 teas dark sesame oil
1 teas low-sodium soy sauce
1/8 teas pepper
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
2. Snap off tough ends of the asparagus spears. Combine asparagus and the remaining ingredients in a jelly-roll pan, turning the asparagus to coat.
3. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes or until the asparagus is tender-crisp; turn once. Yield: 4 servings (serving size: 9 asparagus spears)

Jewel-
I usually am a bit heavy handed, so I measured carefully this time. I had the same thought you did, but it turned out to be plenty! The sesame taste really did come through and the asparagus was juicy.

Sesame oil is so strong that it just takes a bit for LOADS of flavor!

Am I the only one that is questioning that the itty-bitty bit of sesame oil and soy sauce is supposed to cover 36 spears of asparagus?? Or am I usually just really heavy-handed with my condiments? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Jewel- I usually use a air-pump oil sprayer, so I probably use less than the called for amounts of oil. Personally I enjoy the taste of the food rather than the oil.
This recipe is calling out for me to add some kind of shrimp to it. Oh Yum! I have 5 bundles of asparagus to enjoy this weekend.

I made this tonight and thought it was great. Simple recipe for roasting veggies, but with a slightly different twist. It would be great with other veggies, like broccoli, too.

I'm going to have to try this tonight! I love roasted asparagus with a little olive oil, and this looks like a nice change of pace.

I made this tonight and it was wonderful! My DH commented that this was the best asparagus recipe I had every made - a solid 9/10! Though it does seem like very little, there was plenty of sesame oil and soy sauce. Delicious!

I've been considering one of those air-pumped oil sprayers. What do you use it for? everything? Does it ensure you use less olive oil? Would love any input or brand reviews.

I have a Pampered Chef oil spray pump that I got as a gift, and I have to admit that I hardly ever use it. It gets oil everywhere and often times I find that it gets clogged. Maybe others have better luck with theirs or with another brand, like the Misto.

I made this tonight and had a difficult time stopping myself from eating it before it got to the table! I have roasted asparagus for years but this combination is wonderful and I'm betting it would be great cold, too!

Definitely a "10". Yummmm. I didn't measure anything, just sprinkled a little oil and soy sauce and pepper. And to make cleanup easy, I lined the pan with tin foil.

Susan,
I have had two misto pumps and have thrown both out. I would love to know if any of them actually work. I had the same kind of trouble that aggie94 had with her pampered chef. They seems to clog and wind up dripping oil all over the place. It is so frustrating. I am considering giving the pump thing one more try with the one Williams-Sonoma sells. We should start a new thread about this.... My advice is not to buy a Misto.

I made the sesame roasted asparagus last night and thought it was a great option instead of steaming like I usually do. I served it with grilled salmon fillets-drizzled a bit of olive oil over them and then sprinkled dried fennel seeds and thyme liberally over both sides- very yummy!
This is definately on my "make again" list! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

I was at a Pampered Chef party and the consultant told us to pump up the spritzer before using and then when we are finished with it to unscrew the top to let the air out and then tighten back up. She said it keeps the spritzer from becong clogged up. Hope this helps!

Cooks Illustrated recommended the oil mister from Williams-Sonoma. I bought one, and it works perfectly. They found that most of the other sprayers had one kind of problem or another, as many of your posts are attesting.
