View Full Version : That's Just Wrong!!!

"That's Just Wrong!!!" This is my 12-year-old daughter's newest catch-phrase. In fact, we heard it for the first time when she saw a man in a Speedo for the first time ever! It was during our trip to Florida last month. In her defense, he really didn't need to be wearing a Speedo! While we were at Discovery Cove (swimming with the dolphins nonetheless), she was exposed to several more men in bikinis--usually European and generally not in the sort of physical condition I'd want DH to be in if he was wearing a Speedo! (I'll go ahead and apologize in advance to our European friends.) I mentioned DD's catch-phrase on another thread and it made me begin to wonder--what do you think is just plain wrong? Fat men in Speedos--:p ? Super skinny women micro-managing the calories in their slightly sweetened water? Ketchup on eggs? Boxed cake mixes? Come on, let's hear it!

Debbie

Or maybe nosey BB members trying to pry too much-- !

Ah, you gotta love adolescents! They tell the truth about those things the rest of us have learned to suffer in silence.:)

I can think of a lot of things I would say are "Just Wrong" if I were still an adolescent, but I'll be careful here, and start with a tame one.

Peanut butter on pancakes is just wrong! I know, a lot of people like it, but I never heard of it til I went to college. I couldn't stand to watch people eat it in the college cafeteria, so I had to block my line of sight with napkin holders and such so I could enjoy my breakfast.

Following up on Jeanette's comment

Ketchup on French Toast (my step father actually eats it and rationlizes it as a bread omelet).

Housing costs that far exceed worth/people's ability to pay.

Just as certain men in speedos is just wrong, so are women in bikinis that have belly flab flopping everywhere or boobs hanging down to their waists. Ick.

Then there was the time the girl in a bikini was jogging. She had very large, ahem, boobs. They weren't moving. At all. We thought that was just wrong...

How could anything topped with peanut butter ever be wrong?? :p

My "just wrong" things:

-ketchup on poultry

-cute little kittens with incredible stinky gas (speaking from current personal experience)

-only one more book to go in the Harry Potter series :(

-people going through the self-checkout express lanes at my Walmart with a cartload of groceries, while I wait patiently behind them with my ice cream

-leaving a pet in a parked car, no matter if the window is cracked a couple inches or not!!

I'm with you on the just wrong men with Speedos, when vacationing in Phuket, we were assaulted daily with "over the hill" men in Speedos accompanied by their child Thai girlfriend. Yuck...
I'm very tired of seeing every female 1 oz over weight wearing low cut jeans with their short tops.
They look so fat and most of them are not, just wearing the wrong clothes.
I don't care what other people eat, but just having ketchup on the breakfast table bothers my DH.

Okay, so maybe it's Just Wrong that I think pb on pancakes is wrong! But I still can't see how anyone could do it.
The thing is, I LOOOOOVE peanut butter. I always have a jar of chunky AND a jar of creamy, and could turn into a Two Ton Tessie eating it right out of the jar if I'm not careful. But on pancakes?

Pancakes are just one of the many useful items for keeping peanut butter off my fingers. :p

Another thing that is just wrong: the dried parmesan from a green can at Italian restaurants (of course, they serve it out of a bowl, but it's all the same!)

One of my mother's favorites when she cooked, which wasn't often, was peanut butter mixed with the clear Karo corn syrup on pancakes or waffles. I'm surprised sometimes that we survived to adulthood! :)

Dude, fruit does NOT belong on pizza. So wrong.

Ketchup on any breakfast food. Ketchup on eggs makes me ill.

Clothes that look painted on - how do they actually get them on in the first place and once on, don't they hurt????

High heels and shorts.

Not having ketchup on breakfast food. Especially Eggs

Not having Peanut Butter on pancakes. (more than wrong, its tragic)

Perhaps I should add maligning people's choices in breakfast food to the list of things that are "Just wrong".

I also love peanut butter on pancakes. Nutella too. Sometimes both together if I'm really living on the edge :)

Flour, butter and sugar having oh so many calories when put together in amazing fashion..that's just wrong.

People who come to visit NYC and then go to applebees or TGI Fridays for dinner... so wrong.

$2.69 a gallon for gas...the cheap kind  wrong.

I agree. Even eating at Applebees or Olive Garden in downtown Minneapolis is wrong.

Isn't that a phrase that everyone says? We say "that's just wrong" all the time.

You guys are on a food kick, but I was thinking other things...

Most jokes on South Park
A lot of stuff on The Daily Show

Of course, I find them hilarious. Kind of have a "wrong" sense of humor, I guess.

(the ketchup on french toast comment is making me ill! eek!)

Playing heavy metal music at a loud volume at a national park campground is just wrong. (almost ruined our back-to-nature time this past weekend).

I couldn't agree more!

Another thing that is just wrong . . . two day weekends! With all the technology we have, the work week never ends and the work day extends into at home time. I think a three-day weekend is in order!

To build on what you said, there are so many foods that are so delicious, they go down so easy and at least at first, make you feel so good, that it always seems like they should be good for you. My number one: Italian Sausage Sandwiches. Yum. But... they have too much saturated fat, etc.? How can that be?!  :( ;)

I'm sorry but a Speedo on anybody is just plain wrong. :D I was at a pool party yesterday where someone who actually had a nice body was wearing one and, I dunno, I just don't want to see that. I like a little mystery. :) I had to laugh at your description of OTH guys with their child Thai girlfriends since I worked for an (American) guy in his early 60's who married his. Money (and an American passport) talks.

My first thought about what's just plain wrong: Blue M&M's. :)

I dunno... How about the Olympics or triathletes? Can't imagine them in baggies.
Pool parties, yuck, I don't want to see that much detail either.
Competition - yes
Socializing - no

Well I'll probably be the lone dissenter here, but to me corn dogs are just wrong. Corn bread - great! Hot dogs - great! A hot dog wrapped in a corn dog??? GROSS! To top it off, dipping a corn dog in ketchup!?!?! Double gross! Who orders chili and cornbread and then dips their corn bread in ketchup!?! Wrong, Wrong, Wrong...

I *had* to do it in April of this year when I got my cast off after breaking my ankle. The only shoes I could get to accomodate the difference between my swelled foot and regular foot were sandals with a lace up front.

I figured I had a good enough excuse. ;-)

Makeup on children. Just really wrong.

Fourteen bumper stickers plastered over the back of the car.

Reinforced-toe hose with open-toed shoes.

Black hose, white shoes. Or really, just white shoes.

I second Blue M&M's, sandals with socks, and reinforced nylons with open toe shoes (or almost any nylons, for that matter) - just WRONG!

People mistaking 'business casual' for capris and tees in the office - wrong! And open toe shoes without some kind of pedicure or toenail maintenance - WRONG!

Women who put on foundation and don't blend it at the edges, so when you look at them from certain angles, you can see the line where the makeup ends. Just wrong!!!
