(aka Dutch West Indian chicken kebabs)

These were fabulous! And the peanut dipping sauce was even better. We loved this recipe! The only changes I made were using chile paste in the peanut sauce instead of an actual chile. I definitely recommend this recipe -- we had it for dinner with a couple of sides, but it would make a great appetizer as well.

I just printed this out to put on my menu. I'm glad to know that you enjoyed it.

did you use the kecap or the substitution?

I used soy sauce and molasses in place of the kejap manis. I've never even heard of that! I probably could have found it at the Asian market, but I already had the other two at home, and they worked fine. And I used a chile paste with garlic. Yummy! (but really, the peanut sauce was my favorite)

This is kind of a subjective question, but how do you guys think this marinade/sauce would go with veggies? I'd love to try the recipe, but I don't eat chicken. Thanks!

Emily

The marinade is spicy sweet and really flavorful. I think it would go pretty good with veggies or even fish. I'd say give it a try, and let us know what you think! (and I loved the peanut sauce so much, I think it would go great with anything!)

Hmm. . .just noticed this postive post after writing my own negative review. Maybe you could give some tips on how you grilled them?

We loved this and I agree the dipping sauce was excellent. I served it with Plantains with Balsamic-Basil Sauce (9/00) and Quinoa Black Bean Salad posted by emilycat. Great meal!

We made these tonight and loved them. Next time I make them I'll add some cilantro to the marinade, though, and maybe a little more to the peanut sauce. DH really loved the peanut sauce-actual quote was "I know it's sauce and not gravy, but..." as he slathered way more than 2 tbs of the stuff on his rice.Very yummy.
