I'm going to purge a few of my untouched cookbooks (I know > gasp!), and have one available so far. Anyone interested in a trade?

The Complete Book of Pasta and Noodles

This one is from the folks at Cooks Illustrated Magazine. It's the hardbound version, excellent condition, and you can see some info on it here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/060980930X/qid=1123205142/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-3401443-4569467?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) on Amazon's site.

Feel free to post your lonely cookbooks here too ... lonely cookbooks need company. ;)

I'm sorry, but it's gone already. And yes, you can either PM the person, e-mail them (if available) or post here...

Have another one up for swap:

Bowl Food Cookbook

Is this a book about food to eat during college/NFL playoffs or is it food you eat out of a bowl? ;)

I have Steven Raichlen's Big Flavor, Low-Fat Cookbook available - I just can't seem to get into his recipes - as well as AHA's Low Fat, Low Cholesterol Cookbook.

Oh, and that pesky Good Housekeeping Light & Healthy is STILL available. Please someone take this off my hands.

MISSINDI - got In a Cuban Kitchen yesterday. Thanks - looks great! I'm still being pokey about sending your stuff - I must like the way it all looks piled up on my dining room table.

I'm willing to play, but I guess I'm picky for what I get and I would want to swap  So if you're willing to put up with my quirks...

Sara Moulton - this one does not do much for me
Small Batch Baking - I haven't found a recipe that makes the book worth keeping for me
Patricia Well's - A year in Provence (or something like that)
WW/CIA book - just not for me
Paul Newman recipe book

I think that's it :p

LOL! :p :p

I made the meatloaf and it was pretty darn good and then I made another recipe and my overall feeling was the recipes are good and solid, but I already have "the" recipe for the type of food she's offering in that book :D

I do think that someone else would like it though! And I LOVE the bobby flay book :)

I have a couple I would like to sell cheap! (I know this was for swap, but these are in wonderful condition, also have some swappers)

Bread Baker's Apprentice - bought this during a breadmaking spree ($10)
Local Flavors/Deborah Madison - just not my style I guess ($8)

For swap:

Emeril's TV Dinners
Biba's - Biba Cagliano's Italian Kitchen (or something like that)
Fish and Seafood - James Petersen?
Chocolate - author unknown, great pictures. It's like one of those books you see at Borders, yummy looking pics and recipes though

That's is so far

JeAnne - I'll take Small Batch Baking. Paid for it once from a now gone BB'er and got stiffed.

I honestly don't think I made anything in it, same thoughts as you. I am rather sad about giving up Bobby but I did copy some of the recipes down before sending it off. :)

Well I'm holding out for a swap first. If not, I'll see what I can do. I've had another pm on this one.

If not, no worries..I wont feel bad :D

I would swap Passionate Vegetarian by Crescent Dragonwagon. Even with the intriguing author name, I have made all of one recipe in the book.

I'm looking for the fairly recent WW cookbook "Cooking for two". If so, let me know - I may have a cookbook worthy of a trade! : )

Since this is a thread frequented by cookbook people, how the heck do you manage to cook anything from a cookbook. When I read a cookbook lots of stuff looks good and then I put it back on the shelf and forget about it -- so much work to search for recipes in many books that by default I only cook what I have in MacGourmet (MAC version) of Mastercook.

Last night I was reading some food porn (Rosie's Bakery Cookbook) and so MUCH of the stuff looked fantastic but I know that the next time I bake something, I will do a search on my computer or the BB or make a recipe request :p

So how do you make your cookbook collection functional? My recipe collection is very functional because it's digital. :o

Blazedog - during the week, I end up doing a lot of digital searches because I'm scrambling to find something quick for dinner that night. But when I have more time, I'll just start going through each cookbook looking for, say, a chicken recipe or what have you until I find one that looks good. I keep mine in the kitchen, though, and I also probably don't have as many as a lot of people here. It does drive DH nuts when I do it, though, because I will have all these books open all over the place and ask him to pick one out of the ones I have sitting out. He wishes I would never ask his opinion but I feel bad just serving him any old food. I also reread my cookbooks a lot and sometimes a recipe will just stick with me that I want to make. I do wish I used them more, though.

blazedog - when I get a new cookbook, I sit down and go through it and write down all the recipes (with the page number) that I want to try, then put the paper in the front of the cookbook. When I go to look for something or to create a menu, I pull the books off the shelf and look at what I've written down.

I also try to make notes next to what I've written, so I can remember if I did/didn't like the recipe.

LOOKING FOR A COOKBOOK

I thought maybe someone might have and be willing to part with:

"Great fish, Quick: Delicious Dinners from fillets and Shellfish" by Leslie Revsin.

My friend has been looking for this book and can't find it anywhere. If someone has it and would like to sell it or swap something for it, PM me and I will see what I have to part with.

Thanks,
Sherry
