What kind of spices would brighten up a bland mango sauce? The sauce is too mild and a bit too sweet for our taste.

Are you using it for a dessert or a savoury sauce?

Ginger and lime come to mind, for both sweet and savoury. For savoury, chili, cilantro, cumin...
For sweet, cinnamon, vanilla.....

It is a savory sauce for chicken. A friend convinced me to go to one of those make-a-meal places and the food is fine, but too bland for our tastes.

I made mango salsa with chili and lime and cilantro the other day ~ it was so good!
Maybe try adding curry to it ~ mangoes and curry pair well.
Or maybe some chipotle....
Thai chili and coconut...

The Thai Mango Chicken Stirfry (http://community.cookinglight.com/showthread.php?t=27321&highlight=mango) discussed in this thread is a repeater in our house and the sauce has some zip - maybe you could just use the sauce from this?

Try adding some minced jalapeno, minced onion, cilantro and lime juice to the mango. That should liven it up.
