My DH needs to increase his sodium intake, his body burns it too quickly, anyone have any suggestions besides diet sodas, soy sauce, and mustard? :O It is very difficult to cook for both of us, I try to make him add condiments. We will be talking to the doctor next week, but until then, I would like to pump up the sodium over the weekend!! TIA

Saltine!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif. I'm sorry, it just slipped out http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif I wish I had that problem but mine is in the reverse....must watch my sodium because of high blood pressure. My favorite was Ramon noodles and they are loaded with sodium. Just about all prepared foods have a high sodium content. When you are reading labels check out the sodium content..you will be amazed. Oh and most low-fat products (that I have noticed) have a high sodium content....you can't win! If all else fails, he could just salt his food.

Another idea might be to check with your local drug store for "salt tablets". They used to be recommended for people doing a great deal of exercise in extreme heat(have to admit this was before the era of sport drinks).

margaritas on the rocks with salt? Oh, sorry did that slip out? it is Friday and I've had a long week. I guess I don't have any good suggestions but maybe salt crusted fish could be on the menu

Canned soups and salted snack foods (although they lack nutrients) come to mind.

A few months ago I posted examples of some things to avoid for anyone on a low sodium diet. You might want to look at it for things to try. Soy sauce (any chinese food in a restaurant, esp.), anything packaged (soups, crackers, chips, lunch meat), Marie Callender meals (really high!), frozen pizza, Gatorade, canned meats, etc. are some things that come to mind. I would recommend Gatorade first, since many of the things on the list have a lot of other negative attributes.
