I saw this on 30 Minute Meals a few days ago, and was wondering if anyone had ever tried using wontons in place of pasta noodles for lasagna?

Because they only have thirty minutes? :)

Can't say I've ever seen this...even from RR or Miss S. Lee...As ravioli, yes, but lasagna? Nope. And I don't even like them as ravioli.

I have never tried this myself, but I remember seeing a Southern Living recipe last year that used wonton noodles in lasagna. Personally I think I would prefer the thicker texture of real lasagna noodles, but using wontons probably reduces the cooking time (especially if RR used that method on 30 minute meals).

I remember my mother making such a lasagne many years ago - they were big wrappers, not the little 3" squares. At the time I thought it had a nice light texture (it was vegetarian, so not loaded down with ground beef or sausage). Often, lasagne is too heavy and gloppy for me, so I liked this alternative. That said, I haven't had in in MANY years, and I know some of mom's "great" recipes are rather less great to me these days.

I've never tried them in place of lasagna noodles, but have tried them for ravioli. We didn't like the texture at all...too gummy and totally lacking the "bite" of a real noodle.

With those oven-ready noodles so easy to use, I doubt I'd try the wontons.

Oddly enough, I'd recorded a Sara Moulton episode yesterday afternoon based on what were listed as the recipes to be shown, which turned out not to be right. Instead, she did a show about canning tomatoes, and from those tomatoes she made a sauce to be poured over....you guessed it...wonton lasagna! She admitted that the final result were little piles, more like lasagna bundles than lasagna, but she also said that the recipe came from "Gourmet!!

No matter, I still ain't gonna do it.
