Hey guys, Just wondering how everyone makes their margaritas....
Does anyone have a favorite recipe?
I usually use a mix or can, but I thought it would be fun to try something different.
Thanks

Amanda,
If you are feeling brave, try the margaritas with sprite and beer and lime mix. I think they are the first recipe posted on the thread. My husband and I really liked them.

Being a transplant Texan, I have learned quickly about margaritas. I posted (I believe) the Original Margarita recipe. I highly recommend it http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I know this one by heart! This is my mother's specialty.
The only measuring device you need is the can from the frozen limeade (the small can). Mix a can of limeade, a can of tequila, a half of a can (scant) of Triple Sec, a can of water, and ice cubes to the top of the blender. Blend away and enjoy! If you want turquoise margaritas, use Blue Curacao instead of Triple Sec. If you want to go top drawer and less sweet, use Grand Marnier. But I warn you -- these are very strong.

schuh's recipe is pretty good but if you don't have any Triple Sec or Contrieu, you can use orange juice...
2 small cans Minute Maid LimeAid
1 can Tequila
1/2 can OJ
1/2 can Light Beer
Fill remaining space in blender with ice and Puree!

I'll second that!
Cook's Illustrated had an article (and recipes) on margarita's in last July's issue. If anyone is interested I can post the recipe. Unfortunately, I haven't tried them myself (yet)

I'd like to think that my husband and I have perfected the margarita, at least to our liking...
We use the recipe on the back of a bottle of sweet & sour, using Triple Sec, fresh lime juice from our tree (or Rose's) and nothing but the finest tequila. Cuervo Gold is the cheapest we'll use, but 100% agave tequilas are the best (and most expensive, though).
Serve on the rocks in a big glass (salt by your preference), with a shot of Grand Marnier on the top, drizzling down through the cubes.
Have fun!

I've been meaning to update my Mastercook with some recipes and noted this one from Food and Wine Magazine
Juicy Margarita
Food and Wine April 2001 Makes 4 drinks (3 1/2 cups)
1 cup tequila (preferably 100% blue agave)
1/2 cup Cointreau
1 1/4 cups fresh lime juice
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
1/4 cup superfine sugar
4 teaspoons honey, warmed
Combine all of the ingredients in a large pitcher and stir to dissolve the sugar. Refrigerate until chilled or serve immediately over cracked ice

The CL Margaritas are pretty sweet, but I made a non alcoholic version for the kids and they loved it.
Anyone tried the CL watermelon margaritas?
