Grace- if I am not mistaken you were doing alot of cooking for Mother's Day today. Just wondering how it all went and are you exhausted??
I am away from home looking after my sister's boys so no big cooking plans for me.
Hope your brunch is a big success- no doubt it will be with all the wonderful dishes you were planning to make!!

Wow Kima! Thanks for remembering. Yes, I did cook ALL DAY yesterday (and I'm up early today to do all the last minute stuff - they'll be here around 11:00 a.m.!) But I had to get my morning board "fix" before I could attack my day! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

I went slowly and took my time, so it was actually enjoyable. I even poached the eggs for the eggs benedict ahead, so all I have to do is warm them in simmering water for a minute before I serve. This is the first year I will have done so much ahead of time - I typically am rushing around at the last minute like a chicken with my head cut off, and I NEVER sit down and eat with everyone - this year I hope to be able to sit down with everyone. It's my new resolution.

Fortunately, they will all be gone by 3:00 or so, so I'll have the rest of my Sunday to kick back and relax. Thank goodness for that new dishwasher!! (I ran it 3 times yesterday!)

Thanks again for asking, and you said you were looking after your sister's kids, so I don't know if you have any of your own, but Happy Mother's Day to everone!

I did all my cooking yesterday too. My husband is going to barbeque so I don't have to cook. He would be mad at me if he knew while he was at work yesterday that I spent the whole day making side dishes, appitizers, and desserts! I don't think he really understands what's involved in having people over for a barbeque!
But today I do plan to enjoy my Mother's day.

Glad to hear everything is going well Grace.
I was just so impressed by your huge menu that it stuck in my mind. I am not food obessed (am I?).
I do have children, actually they are young adults now. My daughter Kim is 20 and my other daughter Allie is 18.
I am really enjoying being with my nephews who are 11 and 13- not having boys of my own it is alot of fun, I spend most of the time driving them to sport activities. I will be home tomorrow so will celebrate Mother's Day then.
Enjoy your resy- hopefully you'll have enough leftovers to keep you going for awhile! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Well, everything was a complete success. My in-laws even asked for the recipes!! My SIL, who loves to eat, but is pretty picky about trying new stuff loved the Tropical Fruit Salad (she'd never had mango before) and the Pommes Anna. The Chicken Strudel went over big, and my MIL wanted that recipe. The kids attacked the German Apple Pancake, and the bacon was the biggest hit of all - I bought thick cut Virginia bacon, laid it out on racks over a baking sheet, and sprinkled it with a little brown sugar (ala Martha Stewart) and baked it. Easy and no fuss like cooking baking in a pan on the stove.

I made the Lemon Chiffon cake with Strawberry Filling from the May issue, and it too was a hit. Looked very pretty, was simple and very light after all that food. All in all, the day was very successful, and I am all finished cleaning up already (gotta love that dishwasher!!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif)

I hope everyone else had a nice Mother's Day too. My mother and my MIL were very happy, and that was my main goal. Now my husband and I are going for a bike ride to enjoy the rest of the beautiful day we have here in Chicago.
