Let me add:
Those who always wanted to be mothers, never had kids, but tried to be mothers (and friends) to all the children they knew, by teaching (school and Sunday school) and just being there to watch and wish well.

Oh pat sorry about your flood. The restoration people are very good. I had a flood (basement) and they dried it all (plus removed carpet). It is frustrating but hang in there...they will take care of things the mold and all.
Thanks to all for the messages.. and hope on this day everyone enjoyed sunny day, good food, wine and the love of family & friends
I am going to do the pity dance for all of you as my children cannot be with me today because of the following incident.
Last Sunday the water pump on my refrigerator flooded my kitchen. It has warped the kitchen floor, soaked through the insulation under the floor and soaked the carpet in the basement as well. To make a long story short, there is mold in the basement and the restoration company that is handling my little diaster said that senior citizen and small children should not be in my house until they remove the mold with some sort of air cleaner.
Anyway my daughter in Ohio (who is the mother of my six-month old grandson) had to be told that she should not come home for Mother's Day. My other daughter from North Carolina always tries to come home when her sister is here so that she can keep up with little Isaac so they are waiting to come home until the air is clear.
Maybe by next weekend I will be able to celebrate late. I am reaping big dividends from my husband who is being especially nice to me.
I had to move everything out of the bottom kitchen cabinets this weekend as the contractor is supposed to be coming tomorrow to tear up my kitchen floor. If the sub-floor is dry, he will replace the floor and move the cabinets back. Then I can replace everything in them. The sad thing here is that I had already done my spring cleaning.
Think comforting thoughts for me as I need all the patience and humor I can get.
