We will be camping in the Manchester, VT area with a 3 and 5 yr old for a few days in August. This will be our first time visiting the area. Has anyone recently traveled here and any suggestions for restaurants etc.?

Zoey's is a great sandwich place, right near the edge of all the outlets in Manchester. They also have a restaurant, but I prefer the sandwich place. They have fantastic homemade potato chips. I'm sorry I can't tell you the exact location, but maybe you can google it.
Stratton Mountain is not too far from Manchester, and they have lots of summer-time activities there--I've played mini-golf there before. I'm not sure if their activities would be great for younger kids, but you might want to look into it.
It's a lovely area. Enjoy your trip!

For family restaurants...and this place specializes in entertaining kids...try Laney's on Rte. 30. It's pretty much standard fare, but very well done, with a wood burning oven. Their ribs are some of the best around and every time we spend a night there as we head north, we not only eat there, we carry a case of their BBQ sauce back.
Also, the Northshire bookstore, at the junction of 30 and 7, was just remodeled and has a great kid's area with a playspace upstairs that you might keep in mind for rainy days. There's also a cafe, so you can latte it up in the adjoining lounge area while they play.
When you get there, though, there are plenty of handout regional guides that will give you suggestions for the kids!

Bobmark - we are headed to N VT (Lake Champlain area) in October for vacation (I dont' know if that's near Manchester). I know you are the expert, so will check in for suggestions as it gets closer.
Congrats on your big move, btw. Sounds like you are really ready for this.
OK, back to tracey's vacation....sorry :-)

Thanks, Susan. Burlington is way north of Manchester, though it's a spectacular drive up Rte 7 0r 30 through the Champlain Valley from one place to the other. Lucky you, the Champlain Valley is probably my favorite stretch in the entire state.

You must stop at Al Ducci's Italian Pantry, 133 Elm St. at Highland Ave, right off the main street in Manchester Center. I've had a few of their sandwiches and they are awesome.
Enjoy your trip!
