Wahoo! Yesterday we went to Super Wal-mart (one of my new favorite stores) to get some stuff for my husband who is traveling on business this week. While there we noticed two freezers sitting on this cart near the checkout stands. They're small, chest-type freezers--about 5.5 cu. ft. I think. They had been marked down to $100. When we asked about them the manager said they were not going to be carrying the freezers anymore so were getting rid of them and had a bunch more in the back. I'm so excited because we had looked at upright full-size freezers a little while back but found that the space we had planned to put one in was not big enough (in our garage). We were kind of bummed.

Well, now we can get one that will allow us to do a little more stocking type cooking and save some $$$. For our small family of 3 that should be just fine. And we figure that even if it doesn't last forever, it only cost us $100. We have to borrow a truck since we just have a car, so my husband is going to pick it up tonight. I can't wait. Yippee!

Just wanted to share with others' who could understand . . . .

Yeah! We just got one last year and it's been fantastic!! I loved not having to ration the space - like buying only 12 bagels at at time or only freezing one pack of chicken at a time, etc. - in fact, you have to work to fill it up at first! Anyway, enjoy your new purchase http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif !

Now you will have to buy a food saver to store all that frozen food properly.

I have been wanting one of these! I wonder if other Super Wal-Marts have the same thing. May have to drop by after work....

Ha! I won't tell my husband that---he's been wanting one of those but I couldn't justify the cost. Actually it would end up being more than the freezer as it turns out! I'll just keep my mouth quiet for now though . . . Do you have a food saver? How much do you use it?

brendat4 - Where are you at? Wondering if all the Super Wal Marts would have those.

I'm so jealous! I've been DYING for a freezer. DH nags at me all the time because I have the freezer stuffed. I like to be prepared! Like to know I have choices.

I love our upright freezer!

Now it's time to go shopping at Sam's Club! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

LOL - no I don't have a food saver, but I am getting one as soon as I go to Costco - probably by the weekend. My DH thinks I am "appliance happy" but after all the rave reviews on the board and seeing the infomercial (I know you cna't believe them all the time), he says to get one for sure. We waste soooo much food, that the cost of the the unit would outweigh what I throw out in probably a month or two. They range in a variety of prices, depending on the attachments. Costco seems to have the better deal.

You can do a search and read the past reviews on this machine. Or visit their website at www.foodsaver.com (http://www.foodsaver.com) aka www.tilia.com (http://www.tilia.com)
