So, I'm making mashed potatoes tonight, but I'm sick of the same old thing. Any body add anything really good to your mashed potatoes.

Hi,

I tried running a search just here on the board (upper right corner, next to FAQ) and came up with loads of variations on mashed potatoes, especially in the archives. Here are a few threads with ideas:

You could also put in sour cream (low fat or fat free is fine) and chives.

Oh, and you might have a look at CL's recipe finder on this web site for past recipes out of the magazines through 1999.

Good luck!

Thanks, I ended up making mashed potatoes with the skins on (red) and added a little fake butter, some low fat buttermilk, and some minced garlic. They weren't the best, but at least they were different!

In case you're still looking for suggestions, my favorite mashed potatoes use lowfat buttermilk, fresh chives, and crumbled feta cheese, all measured to taste, along with salt and pepper. The feta really adds a zip, and the lowfat buttermilk gives that creamy, buttery texture and flavor!
