And I have put quite a few in there!
Anyway, I was at Whole Foods shopping for picnic night....you know, bread, hummus, strawberries, wine and cheese (and if you are us, baklava). ANYWAY, there were cheese samples and I picked up one and popped it in my mouth without even thinking....O'm'gawd!!!
I have never had anything so luxurious in my mouth! It is Drunken Goats Cheese. Please try it http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
ps...it goes GREAT with wheat sourdough, and pesto hummus!

All of that sounds wonderful. BTW, I've never had wheat sourdough!!! Love sourdough bread. Wheat sourdough sounds incredible. If anyone has a recipe for it please post. I need to use my bread machine again. P.S I am going to look for that cheese and hummus as well. Love cheeses and hummus.

Thanks kwormann, I've never noticed the pesto hummus. Usually I go for the Garlic or Roasted Pepper variety.

I love the idea of picnic night. The cheese you mentioned sounds so good. Do you think they would have it at Trader Joes? Cheese is one of my favoite things.
What I had for dinner would have gone nicely with the other menu items you had on your picnic. I made Tapenade. The serving sugestion was to spoon it on jicama. A nice contrast, but I should have let it set for a few hours to let the garlic mellow. Let say I won't be bothered by vampers tonight.

Picnic night, for us, is just another variation of date night. After a hard week, we pack up all the finger food and head upstairs to the bedroom and spread it out on the bed picnic style!
Chef Cindy...I would check Trader Joes...maybe even ask for it. It has a purple "backside". I wish I could better describe the taste, but I think it just needs to be tasted to be believed! We decided this cheese was NEVER to be put between two slices of wheat and grilled unless it was SOME SPECIAL SANDWICH!!!!!

Thanks Kim. Sounds like this is very special cheese. Can hardly wait to see if Trader Joes has it. It would be sacralege to slide it between bread.

Kim,
Where do you live that you were able to get the Drunken Goat's Cheese? It sounds so great and I would love to try it.
Have any of you found a source for it?

I live in Houston and I just HAPPENED upon it in the cheese section of Whole Foods Market. I had never heard of it before last Friday, but it will become a regular on gourmet nights! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Well, if I can't find any pretty soon I guess I am going to have to fly down to Houston.
If anyone in Massachusetts finds any please let me know.

I found some small markets online that sell it ... mmmmm... cheese cured in wine!
Drunken Goat Cheese
And from Murcia, Spain, comes the Drunken Goat, a slightly sweet artisanal goat cheese that
is also cured in wine.
A semi-soft Spanish cheese that is cured in vats of wine. This results in the cheese absorbing the wine flavor (not the alcohol) of the wine. The rind is red but, the
cheese is pure white. This results in a smooth tasting cheese. One of our largest selling goats milk cheese.
$10.35 / pound http://www.cheesers.com/Cheesers/welcome.html
Artisan goat cheese from Marcia, Spain. Soaked in red wine which gives its rind a distinct purple color. Aged at least 75 days to ensure a sweet smooth flavor. Great with crusty bread or fresh grapes. http://taylorsmarket.com/spanish.htm

Because of this post, I stopped at Fresh Fields/Whole Foods in Montclair, NJ on the way home yesterday and bought this cheese. I don't know that it's the best cheese I've ever tasted, but it is very good. Anyway, it's available in northern NJ!
