Just bought these this weekend (with a coupon, .99 for a box of four...got to love those double coupons!!). Anyway, they are a meatless soy protein sausage (in the freezer section) and they are very tasty. I bought the Smoked sausage but they also have Italian and Bratwurst. They are individually wrapped and you microwave them wrapper and all! Something new to try although they do have alot of sodium (890 mg/sausage) but just 130 calories and 5g of fat. Just thought I'd share!
SoCal- did you try these yet? I just picked up a package of the Italian type last week, but haven't made them yet. I also bought a package of their grilled "chicken" breasts. Anyone try these before?

Yes, Sue K, I tried one last night and I liked it (although my son would say I would like anything that I don't have to pay alot for! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif). Haven't tried the 'chicken' breasts yet but am interested to hear any opinions. I've got a few more coupons!!

I tried the Boca sausages a couple of weeks ago and was disappointed. I like the Morningstar Farms brand much better, and so does my 3 year old. This is just a matter of personal preference, I'm sure. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Since we're discussing "meatless" meats, I thought I'd mention that I made tacos last night for my family using Morningstar's Veggie Crumbles. I was a little nervous because my last endeavor to trick the kids into healthy eating was with Smart Dog veggie hot dogs, and those went over like a lead balloon. However, my 8,6 and 3 year old gobbled up the tacos...just loved them. I couldn't bring myself to tell them it wasn't really meat, because they have been known to change their mind about liking something due to extra info. such as that! I'm just so glad they liked it!
I've never tried the Boca "chicken", but have had something called Chik'n Grill, don't remember the brand, and they are great. Put on a whole wheat bun, with lettuce, tomato, and mustard/fat free mayo mix...yummy!
I'll have to try the Boca sausages...I need the double coupon deal, SoCal...they're so expensive! However, I did get a bargain on some discontinued veggie burgers at my grocery store last week...just $1.50 for a package of 4, and they are really spicy...just the way I like it!

You know Jewel, I didn't even look at the sodium content before I bought them but I didn't think 5 grams of fat was so bad. I usually just pair up the sausage with steamed or roasted veggies and that is my lunch!
BlueMoose - I've seen Morningstar Farm breakfast sausage (they are in my freezer!) but never regular sausage(?). I'll have to keep my eye out for those and give them a try.
Mbart - Good job disguising the taco 'meat'! I haven't tried the crumbles or the 'chicken' for that matter. Another couple of things to put on my 'to try' list!!

Sorry SoCal, I was thinking breakfast sausage. I just found the Boca Bratwurst today and got some for my DH to try. He's from Chicago, so he's rather hard to impress when it comes to brats, so we'll see...he likes the burgers, though! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Morningstar Farms has good hot dogs, though.

I made chili the other day using a 12-ounce bag of Morningstar Veggie Crumbles in place of a pound of ground beef. The chili was very good. My husband said it was "really good" before I told him what was in it. When I revealed that it was the veggie crumbles, he was surprised. He still gobbled down a second helping even after he knew what it was. Our first experience with veggie crumbles won't be our last.

No need to apologize BlueMoose!! I thought I was missing the Morningstar Farm sausages in the store! I don't think the Boca Bratwurst will compare to the good, old Chicago bratwurst however http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif . I'd be curious to know what your husband thinks of them though.

Mbart, I'm curious, what happened with the Smart Dogs? We eat them all the time and even fooled my VERY PICKY father with them. However, my mom tried to make them for my husband at a cookout once...she just put them on when she put the burgers on and when my husband tried it about 20-25 minutes later it was indistinquishable from RUBBER!!! The worst! We still tease her about them.

We are crazy about Boca Burgers and Boca Crumbles, but we never bought the Boca Sausage because I couldn't get past the sodium and fat grams on the label! At that time we were still able to buy Healthy Choice breakfast sausage, and it was only 1.5 grams of fat per serving. Now, HC has hit the dusty trail in my area, so I have to find an alternative.
I've heard so much on this BB about Morningstar Farms products, and I think I'm going to try that one before Boca! I made homemade sausage using Pork Loin in my meat grinder, and the taste was good, just not as juicy as I would have liked. Still have to play a bit more!

We tried the Boca bratwurst last night. My DH thought they were pretty good. I thought so, too, although I just tried a small piece and it was pretty salty. I prefer the Morningstar hot dogs. I think the bratwurst would be good in place of sausage in recipes, though.

WE love the soy sausage in a tube....we are so excited about sausage gravy and biscuits again! In fact, DH is making them for breakfast tomorrow!
