How's the site working?

Search seems to be functioning much better and well as custom avatars. The custom signature function isn't working and may be disabled for awhile.

Just wanted to see how things are from your end.

Hi Jennifer. The board in general seems to be working well (at least for me). My only couple of complaints are the time limit (10 minutes!!) for editing, and also in the PM part of the board, when you are typing a PM to someone, there used to be something you could click to check the length of your PM (so you wouldn't go over the 1500 character limit). Now there is no way to check the message size until you try to send it. Could you get that button back for us? And lengthen the time we have to edit our posts? Thanks!

Actually, many of us are still having issues with custom avatars. I see vast fields of red x's/blue questionmarks when I'm on the BB. Is that a browser related issue? I'm using Safari.

I still can't see most avatars but that's no big deal.

The only big thing I've noticed is that the links don't work at the top of the pages to go to the Food or Menus type pages.

Some avatars don't work.

The search only goes WAY back, not recently back.

I also have quite a few avatars not showing up, including my own.

I just did a search for "rice" since I've been reading and posting to a lot of rice threads lately. I definitely go many, many more search results than when I did this same search a few weeks ago, but there were still at least 3 threads that were missing from the results that I knew for sure exist.

So, definitely better, but still needing some work....

1. I up'ed the editing of posts to 45 minutes.
2. I up'ed the char limit on PMs.
3. The 10 word minimum on posts is to eliminate BB spamming software that can make short posts every 10 seconds.
4. Will fix the broken links on the Channels Food, Healthy Life, etc. promptly.
5. The avatar thing is odd. It has to do with security settings on your computer. I have the same problem in Safari, but not with Internet Explorer, and not all the time. I'll ask about it to be sure there's not a solution.

Jennifer - I can see some custom avatars but not everybodys. For example, I can see yours but not Grace's. I can see Lindrusso's but not Lisa's. Maybe I can only see the ones without animation?

Thanks Jennifer. Besides upping the character limit, is there a way to bring back the button we used to have that says "check the length of your PM" ?? As I'm typing, I don't know when I'm getting close to the limit or not, and when I start deleting words/sentences when I've gone over, there's now no way to know when you've deleted enough. Thanks again.

I use Internet Explorer and I can't see all the avatars all the time. Sometimes I can see my own. Sometimes I can't.

I'd also like to be able to change the titles under our avatar. I don't see where you can do that now.

Other than that......boards are great. Thanks for askin'. ;)

I'm having the same problem in Firefox & IE. I also thought the animation was the problem & changed my avatar. It wasn't.

I've noticed that the BB is now just slightly wider than my monitor, so I have to scroll left to right to catch the last few letters. :confused:

Is there a reason not to be able to edit posts indefinitely? If I posted a recipe with a typo, and didn't realize it until hours (or days) later, I'd still like to be able to correct it.

I'm not in love with the new smilies, but hey, if you can get the search function working well, I don't really care that much about the smilies.

ETA: Now when using the insert hyperlink button, the link shows up underlined, but it is easier for others to tell it is a link if it shows up in a different color and/or bold as well as underlined.

I'm like others - I can see some avatars, but not all. And they sort of "come and go." Some days, for example, I can see Grace's avatar (like today), but not everyday.

I can't see my own avatar at all.

This is a bit further out, but when printing recipes by selecting the text in a post, then choosing "selected" from the print window, there is now a nice little box surrounding the text on the printout, which I assume is part of the setup here as it doesn't happen elsewhere.

The problem is, it seems to cut off text on the right side of the page (and presumably the box line there) and I've now got quite a few recipes with cooking time, of all things, lopped off! :(

Like I said, could be me, but I don't think so.

Thanks for your inquiry, and for all your work!
I have a number of the same issues as others (e.g., like meslgh said, the BB is now just slightly wider than my monitor... also I don't see all the custom avatars...)... but there is one specific thing I haven't seen mentioned:

Could the preview feature (seeing the first part of a thread when you scroll over its title on each Board's main page) be lengthened just a bit? Maybe I'm a slow reader, but it's just not quite long enough and I could really use maybe 25-30% more time before it disappeared.

In that same vein, I'd like the preview a thread thing to be an option you can turn off if you want. I don't use it and it's annoying to me.
