Just looked at the link and couldn't resist voting on her parenting potential. Looks like I agree with the majority!

Feel however you like about BS having a baby, but I love, love some good celebrity gossip/news. I'm simple like that! :o

Well, at least the name they chose (Preston something) was relatively normal. Hopefully Britney's 15 minutes is nearing its end.

Did you all read about the part where she had a planned c-section because she didn't want to endure the PAIN of natural childbirth??? What??? And a big cut into your abdomen isn't painful? These people are unreal.

His name is Preston Michael Spears Federline.

AshleeNicole - thanks for that link. I'm a sucker for celebrity gossip.

Margaret - don't know why you're sorry. True, she doesn't always make the best decisions, but I'm sure the baby will be very well taken care of and, perhaps most importantly, loved.

LOL!!

Snarkywood.com has had some pretty funny comments on her and her husband. I'm sure they will post something about the birth in the near future.

''Pregnancy has not agreed with her,'' a Spears pal told US. ''She has been sick a lot.... She couldn't get out of bed all weekend.''

Aww, what a shame! When I was pregnant with my first baby it didn't agree with me either - so much so that I had a stroke and let me tell you about that pain.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what all the fuss is about.

Unlike her, I definitely would not have chosen a C-section, however I would have to say that my C-section was way, way, WAY less painful than the hour or so I spent in labor.

I'm guessing the planned c-section wasn't because of the pain of natural childbirth. Obviously, she had an epidural for the c-section so, it wasn't as if that was out of the question. I would bet that she had the c-section so that she could have a tummy tuck and/or some other plastic surgery after the birth.

Maybe someone out there could explain it to me but, why would you schedule a c-section for your first child? I can understand scheduling one if you've had a previous child by c-section. Or, even had a difficult time with a previous birth. But, your first?

I'm sticking with the tummy tuck/plastic surgery route in this situation.

Well, it's not like everything you read is 100% true, but all I can say is the article said that the reason for the planned c-section was specifically because she wanted to avoid the pain of childbirth. I doubt it was for a tummy tuck - she has a pretty flat stomach already!

And Andrea, your c-section was less painful than childbirth?!! I don't have kids, so I have no idea but I did have a hysterectomy which was horrible to recover from, and my neighbor had 2 c-sections and she was miserable for about 6 weeks. Conversely, my other neighbor had her three kids right at home in the living room and she was up and around like nothing happened in a couple of days, and her last kid popped out in like 20 minutes. So I just assumed that c-section was worse (pain wise). But maybe I'm wrong about that....

I had a very flat stomach before I got pregnant. A year later, I still have a tire around it.

And, from the pictures I've seen of Britney Spears after marrying Kevin Federline, she seems to have let herself go (even before she got pregnant). Although, I would never say she was fat by any stretch of the word.

Grace - Wow! Maybe I just got lucky or had a good surgeon or something. I was definitely up and about by the time I got home from the hospital. I remember going shopping for a camera the day after I got home. It wasn't painless or anything, but definitely manageable. I hope the second one won't be payback for the first!

I read this on the Chicago Sun Time website:

ELECTIVE SURGERY
There are rumors of a nasty trend in childbirth. The movement is called "too posh to push." Caesarean sections are becoming more common among celebrities, with some mothers delivering a month early -- the better to avoid the severe abdominal stretching of the final month. Some suspect that celebrities are even scheduling tummy tucks immediately following the Caesarean. No names have been mentioned, although eyebrows were raised when supermodel Claudia Schiffer gave birth a few weeks early by Caesarean section, reportedly because of risks associated with a foot injury. Other celebrities who have had C-sections include Catherine Zeta-Jones, Madonna, Celine Dion and Victoria Beckham (the Posh of "too posh to push").

Too crazy if its true!

My sister had an emergency c-section last month and it was horrible. Somehow her body pushed her staples out (not sure about the details) and she had a big gaping wound that she had to clean out every day. The whole thing was horribly painful.

Sounds like you were incredibly lucky.

Count me in on the c-section that never bothered me group. It went so well that they asked if I wanted to go home 1-1/2 days later. I came home on tylenol only. The epidural was the worst part for me (that and the tugigng feeling when I tried getting out of bed. I came home from hospital and unloaded the dishwasher! (DH was mad mad mad at me!) I am grateful for the experience because I know it is not the norm!

I had 24 hours of labor and then a C-Section... I'll take the C-section any day! I scheduled my second for a c-section and went home on the 2nd day. I found it very manageable and also just used tylenol. And I did BEG my doc to tuck me up just a little! She did slightly (I had a not so pretty 1st incision and she cleaned that up...), but really you can only get the shape back by working at it.

I'm sure the baby will be loved, well cared for, and will be raised by the best nannies available.
