Okay, I asked my son what cereals he would eat and since he told me Lucky Charms and Frosted Flakes, I naturally bought Froot Loops

So...anybody have recipes that will use up the box of Froot Loops or should I either donate it or pitch it (its unopened)....

I once saw Martha making a variation on Rice Crispy Treats by using a variety of cereals. Maybe you can use Fruit Loops? Sorry...kinda lame. :o

If it's unopened, why can't you just return it or exchange it for a cereal he will eat? Otherwise here's a link to the Kellogg's web site with a bunch of recipes for Froot Loops: http://www.kelloggs.com/cgi-bin/brandpages/recipe/genlist.pl?skin=kelloggs;Company=3;Product=566

Strike up the Twilight Zone movie because I was having this same problem today. How can I use up Fruit Loops?

There are a few Rice Krispy Treat type recipes using Fruit Loops and there's this one orange flavored Fruit Loop cookie floating around in the ether, but neither one of them sound that great.

Personally, I'd just take your box back and exchange it. Lucky for you it's unopened.

If you have a place to donate it, I would do that. It probably isn't that often that food pantries get that kind of cereal donated, and somebody's kids will be thrilled to get it! :)

Editing to add that if he doesn't want to eat Fruit Loops, he probably won't like them any better in a recipe. I can't quite imagine a rice krispy type treat made with Fruit Loops.....bleh! (And I used to LOVE Fruit Loops as a kid!)

It actually does taste pretty good. We've made them this way before - and while they are pretty sweet - it was not as bad as I was expecting!

The caveat being that I can only do this once a year...

Each Christmas I melt a bunch of almond bark and dump fruit loops in it. Spoon small mounds of the coated cereal onto parchment or wax paper, and allow to set & cool.

It's a nasty, cavity-inducing holiday 'must-have' at my house and I love i!
