Just thought I'd give a heads up...the first club is a Supper Club in St. Paul.

Ohhhhhh, so that's what explains the ton of supper club postings that appeared overnight.

I'll have to check out the show when it's on again.

It was good, but I fell asleep before the all men's one was aired. It said they were from Michigan...anyone able to give me any more details? I just couldn't stay awake...no fault of the show! :)

Thanks-

The all men group meets in a restaurant, I think every Friday night. I was doing other things while it was on, so was only 1/2 paying attention. There are about 20 members and it costs them each $40 per week. They split into groups...one group did apps, one did bread and dessert, one did soup/salad, one did entree. They don't have to clean up - it is part of their agreement with the restaurant - one of the dishwashers comes in at the end of night to do the cleaning up.

Hope that helps!

I put this on DVR and watched today. The men's club is in Plymouth, MA and IIRC they meet 1x monthly. They not only have a dishwasher, but a bartender, come in! :D

It was by shear accident that I was able to watch this! I was visiting my Mum this weekend and since I don't have cable, we watch the food network. After Paula Deen's show was done, this came on! I was just thrilled!

I thought it was cool that CL touched on the wide variety of Cooking Clubs, from an initial gathering of strangers, to high school friends, to a rather larger group of guys. From one person hosts, to everyone cooks, to progressive, and fancy-shmancy restaurant facilites. I particularily enjoyed the bit with making sushi - I even took away some tips and my Mum said next time I'm in town she would be willing to try sushi! :D

I thought it was a good show.

Personally, I can't believe those guys fork out $40 a WEEK! I thought I had misunderstood!! I suppose it's not much unlike a round of golf these days...

I only wish it was $40 a week for golf. I could have a really nice boat if it weren't for the $$$$ we shell out for golf!

Are you sure it was Plymouth, MA I was positive it was Plymouth, MI? Oh, well, it was a pretty cool concept whichever it was.

As far as the $40 goes, I think most people will shell out $40 for a 4 course meal and drinks on a monthly basis, actually, I think that would be quite reasonable.

This was a cool show and welcome to destindreamin and any other newbies that find us because of the show.

I haven't seen the show yet, but the St. Paul club is our own Jessica's. :)

It was Plymouth, Michigan, not MA. I recognized the restaurant - Compari's in downtown Plymouth. I had lunch there once.

I was wondering but thought I'd let her reveal herself. Very cool Jessica, it looked like a great club.

Hello everyone! I DVR'ed that show the other day and finally got a chance to watch it today. After watching the program, I ventured over here to take a peak @ all the wonderful buzz. The concept of a cooking club sounds so interesting, so here I come a knockin. I've never been to or have been a part of a cooking club, but I am an avid cooker and love to entertain as often as I can. Hope y'all don't mind another newbie joining in? ;)

I was going to ask if that was you ... funny, the IRL face never matches the in-my-head visual. ;) Your group looks like a fun one!

Were there any other CLBBers featured?

Yay, Jessica!

I loved the show! At the beginning I was wondering how I would pick you out, and then there you were . . . practically kicking the show off. Your club looks like a lot of fun, kudos to you for starting it!

I looked on both FoodTV's site and CL's, but none of them had more info on this show. One of the clubs (don't remember which one) mentioned they had a web site for their club, which is what I was looking for, since I'm putting together one for ours. Any idea which one or where I can find it? Putting "supper club" in google is fruitless...

Missindi - It was the club in Denver, I believe, that had the website. I thought it was a great idea and I'm going to bring it up to my club at our dinner on Saturday night. The link to the episode is:

Food TV Spot (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show_sp/episode/0,1976,FOOD_9994_39772,00.html)

However, it doesn't give much information...a couple recipes and the repeat time that tbb113 already posted above.

Thanks for the link ... now to hunt for their website! I, too, thought it was a great idea, and already starting worked on one for ours. Right now, since I just started it yesterday ;), it just has the monthly meeting location (since we rotate houses), the theme dish, and the date, so at the very least, it's a good reminder. I'd like to develop it into something much bigger though ... baby steps.

Bumping up this old thread to say I finally saw this show!!! It was great!!! And when they showed "Jessica", I was thinking, is that OUR Jessica, I wonder??!!! And I come here to find out that sure enough, it is!! :D SO COOL! You looked great, Jessica (and everyone else!). How fun to finally put a face with a BB "friend".

What was really funny, was they brought up a whole bunch of things that are just like what happened with our group - meeting strangers from the internet, bringing our magazines to the first meeting to identify each other, and becoming good friends with people so different, you wouldn't normally choose them as friends.

I don't know how I missed this show before - but it looks like they're rerunning it a bunch of times, so for anyone else who may have missed it, check it out!

LOL--I haven't been on the BB much lately because Adam keeps me hopping but this thread brought back some good memories. Our club still is going strong!
