My sister is in the market. I thought I'd ask you guys. She uses it mostly for steaming rice and vegetables (separately, of course). Anyone recommend a good one? I'd say easy clean-up is important. The last one she had required that you soak the heating element in vinegar every time you used it. She wasn't crazy about that.
Thanks.

No, I don't know anything about that, but I heard these people might know...

I have a small (3 cup?) Salton rice cooker, works great and the rice pot is DW safe. I've never had to do anything with the heating element. I'm in the market for a larger one and saw one on Williams Sonoma I liked, but didnt get it although I registered for it on my wedding registry. I'm content for now with my little Salton until I decide to upgrade.

When I lived in Japan, the *big* brand there was Zojirushi. They sell them here but they are pricey. One day I'm going to get one. So far, I've had two of the "American" brands and they are just so-so. So, I would get any Zojirushi brand cooker.

If she wants to be able to steam vegetables, then she won't want one of the fancy fuzzy logic cookers, she'll want one with a steamer basket. I LOVE my fuzzy logic Zojirushi, but I can't do veggies in it. They have many different models, though, so at least that would give you a brand name to look for.
