I filled up this morning - I was running on fumes. Regular unleaded was $2.89, and I paid $3.09 for premium.

I just filled up at $2.93 a gal., but I used my shell (m/c) credit card and get 5% back on my statement, so thats like $0.14 savings per gal.
Then DS comes home from school and says, "can I take your car to work, I'm on fumes", like the good mom that I am, I said "yes" and I will take his car and fill her up. Poor kid can't afford to gas his car anymore with going to school and only working part-time.

Prices by me have gone down a few cents every couple of days for about a week and a half, now. Today, the Irving station was the lowest at $2.72/gall.

$2.95 today for regular in my neck of the woods.
I would assume newcook's price was in Canadian dollars... translates (roughly) just over $6/gallon. If American dollars, double

In Victoria regular gas is $1.149 a litre.
1 litre is .26 of a US gallon so approximately 4 litres to a gallon (1.06 gallons actually.)
That makes our gas $4.60 Cdn or approx $3.92 US. a gallon

Northern Ontario is $1.09. People have been lining up for gas all day. We're going to fill up later tonight, when the lines are shorter.

The cheapest here is $3.05 at Costco - if you can take the lines. It got up to $3.64 last week. I heard on Molokai it was $4.03.

A couple of hours ago--$2.87 at Costco and I was pretty happy about it!

I went driving around to see if I can fill up at a reasonable rate. There is a run on gaz, but it seems most gaz stations are still at around $4.00 per gallon (Canadian). I saw one gaz station at $7. Some gaz stations are closed because they ran out of gaz, there are line ups everywhere. The weird thing is that they are blaming Rita for the price hike. The news stations are reporting that the prices will change everywhere overnight to around the $7 rate, so everyone is out tonight filling up. This is so weird.
Danielle, something similar happened here in Georgia after Katrina. A news story went out about Atlanta only having a 10 day supply of gas, and that we were on our third day (or something like that). Next thing we knew, people were emailing all kinds of crazy rumors; DH called me that afternoon because people were leaving work early to go find gas. Some stations did run out of gas, just because everyone freaked out. There was some price gouging as well. It's funny how "panics" can start like that!

I paid $2.59 this evening. The station was crowded, but I only had to wait a minute for a pump to open up. One station only had premium. I probably had enough gas to last until Sunday, but figured I better fill up before the hurricane hit. I didn't do that list time, and paid for it at the pump.

I paid $3.16 (I think that's right) per gallon of regular on Wednesday afternoon. I thought it was pretty good -- i.e., not significantly higher than it's been of late. Our gas doesn't come from the Gulf but we've been told that prices will still reflect the effects of Katrina and Rita and will be going up.
$2.53 in NW In. DH filled the cars up. I walk to work and DH has a mile drive.

Regular was 2.59 here yesterday. It's sad when we're excited that the price is so "low". It's time to build some refineries a couple of hundred miles from the coast.

Oh, bite me, Escher.
Would you rather talk about the cruelty of knitting with wool instead of plant fibers? I haven't seen that discussed here. :p

Why, yes, yes I would. I enjoy tormenting vegans.
I like seeing the prices around the country. I've always thought NY/metro has the highest-priced everything, so it's nice (for me, at least!) to see that we're not this time: $2.88 for regular this morning in north Jersey.

Just like a TV show you don't like, you don't have to watch. Or is it like rubbernecking, where you don't want to look, but can't help yourself? ;)
Anyways, was $2.89 here the other day, now $2.95. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
The majority of our clients are major petrochemical refineries (i.e., Exxon) and they're being emptied (Beaumont, Baytown, etc.). Forget about Chalmette ... it's not looking good.

I paid $2.81 at Costco this morning. I'm so thankful that I no longer have a job that requires nearly 100 miles a day in the car! These days I can go a week and half with a 14 gallon tank of gas.

Hey, Escher! I'm back from my day job, and checking the overdone threads. Well, did you know that domesticating sheep has caused them to stop their natural molting process? So it's very bad apparently to domesticate sheep. I say, if you shear them, and keep them comfy, then what's the harm.
I just knitted some felted wool clogs that are AWESOME, thanks to some domesticated sheep.

Seriously, I haven't had a car for 5-6 years and looking at the current gas prices keep me without a car.

Jeanz, I would say be thankful that you are only paying that. Where I live in VA if I were to ride our subway system, it would be roughly $140 a month. If I rode the VRE (Express train) it is approx. $230 a month. But, I do know that it is expensive to pay that amount. I took a weekend trip w/my Mom last weekend and it cost me $42.50 to fill up my tank. The whole tank was used to drive both ways and had to fill up again on returning home. Approx. $85 bucks for gas for a weekend trip!

Here in the Piedmont area of NC, I noticed that the gas prices were $2.84 gallon. A friend just told me that gas prices have sky rocketed in Savannah GA and that they have a gas shortage already. The schools are closed for 2 days next week because of it. I was just in Savannah last weekend with my mother and we were please because the gas prices were so low compared to NC. $2.49 a gal is what I paid last week for the drive back.

I was in Greensboro on Friday and we paid $2.73 at the Haw River truck stop. It's still $2.99 here at home. It's probably lower in Hillsborough, where I work.
