I am in the Sea World/Dr.Phillips area of Orlando. Is anyone interested in starting a cooking club?

I am interested in a couples supper club. You are not so far away. We are in Osceola County in Kissimmee.

Hello!

I've just relocated to Central Florida from Durham, NC. I love cooking and wine and would like to meet new people who share those interests.

I'm would like to join/start a supper club, but am not sure about limiting it to only couples. I've not yet asked my partner if he would be interested, but would still like to join a club even if he were not. ;)

Hi, I am new to the Orlando area (southwest/Dr. Phillips) and would love to join a supperclub. I posted to the other Orlando thread as well.

Hi All!

From both threads, it looks as though there is interest in two clubs- one in North Orlando and one in South Orlando. I had some friends who started a club in Durham and I'm not sure how many people they started with- I want to say they started with around ten (I was supposed to join, but had to move instead....). How many people do you think we would need to start a good initial group?

Also, what would y'all like to see in a cooking club? I'm up for most anything, but there are lots of options out there, and some clubs find it helpful to choose a "theme" at first to follow just to get everyone in the spirit of a cooking club. For instance:

- Some clubs do like a pot-luck dinner where everyone brings a dish based on a theme for that evening.
- Some clubs just pick a couple dishes to make at someone's house- this is good for those who aren't as adventurous in their own homes, but don't mind expermenting among like souls.
- Some clubs leave it to that month's host/hostess to pick what they are going to do. (One caveat here, these clubs tend to not do as well- I don't know why, but it might have something to do with lack of a "mission" that everyone is interested in.).

Again I posted to the other thread as well. 8-10 seems like a good number if its couples - otherwise you could probably start with less.
I like the pot luck idea - that way one person isn't doing all the cooking or having a bunch of new people cooking in their kitchen.

I have a very small kitchen but can seat 8 very nicely. A pot luck is best for me. If others have a larger kitchen and would like to have everyone cook, that would be fine also. How do we get started?
