I see lots of recipes for these, but don't find them in my local grocery stores. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, does anyone know how many extra calores/fat grams to add to a recipe when using regular flour tortillias? Thanks for any suggestions.

Living in Texas, the stores in my area may have more of a variety, but I've seen several 98% fat free and low fat tortillas. Whole Foods also sells fat-free tortillas that are great. (They have oat bran in them, but you can't taste it. It adds a bonus of extra fiber.) Each brand is different though. Check the nutrition label to see the calorie and fat content. Just add the fat grams and calories from fat to the recipe to get a rough idea of the changes.

I use Reser's fat free tortillas. They are 43g and 110 calories. I don't know how that compares, but they are my favorite for making quesadillas, which I bake in the oven rather than fry (got that from Bobby Flay).

I found that using FF tortillas in certain dishes is a problem. I would only use FF for quesadillas, casseroles or anthing you don't have to roll. I have found that they peel apart or don't stay together.

For enchiladas, appetizers, I use the 98% FF. They hold together much better, but this is just my opinion.

If any of you live near a Whole Foods, they have great low fat whole wheat flour tortilla's! They have a great flavor.

A second here for Sherri's suggestion. (As a matter of fact I just bought some whole foods ww ones this morning ! And each one has 4 grams of fiber...and they resemble ones I had in Santa Fe)

I have used fat free tortillas, but I much prefer the whole wheat. The fat free ones I can buy are 100 cal., and the whole wheat are 140, and for just 40 extra calories, they taste so much better.

I also have a problem finding the low-fat or ff tortillas at my grocery! I was looking for some just today and ended up getting the regular kind! Ughhh!

Thanks for all the help. I did find some at Krogers over the weekend, but they aren't very big. I don't live near a Whole Foods, unfortunately, but Krogers did have some whole wheat tortillas that I will try the next time. Thanks again!

Do you have a Publix near you?? They have a terrific brand of fatfree tortillas. The best one is "honey wheat". YUMMM!! I've also tried the sundried tomato/basil variety. I'll check the brand tonight.

No Publix. I live in Virginia Beach. We have Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Kroger and Farm Fresh (mostly Virginia chain).

When I look at the name on the package, I'll also check for a web address. I THINK they had a web address listed. Maybe they could either be ordered from the web site...or your local grocer could special order them for you.
