My girlfriends and I are planning a much needed trip to Dallas. I can't wait since I just had twins 3 months ago and don't remember what a quiet dinner is(I also have a 4yr old.) Looking for great restaurants in either Dallas or Plano, plus a brunch place. My friends and I are all foodies who love great food!!!
I used to live in Dallas, so here are some ideas. For brunch a popular place is Breadwinners...it's quite popular so you may have to wait, but there is a nice variety and the food is good.
For evening food, if you want to "splurge" a place called "Aquaknox" is pretty good...I must admit I preferred their desserts to main courses, but the menu changes so...
For something less expensive than Aquaknox, you can try a place called Gloria's...personally not my favourite place, but I am definately in the minority on that opinion so that's why I'm suggesting it.
Finally, if you like sushi, a place called "Nakamoto" is good. It's in Plano off the expressway.
If you want any more info on these restaurants (or others), try this website: http://www.guidelive.com/topic/restaurants.htm
From here, you can plug in the names of the restaurants I've suggested to read reviews and get directions/addresses. Also, you can pick a type of food or location to see what else might be in the area that you might like.
Finally, on a non-food related note, you should check out a store called Sur La Table, (unless there's one where you live and you've "been there, done that") It's a neat kitchen store. You can see what they're about at http://www.surlatable.com/ from there you can also look up info on the Dallas and Plano stores if you are interested in going there.
Ahh, much as I love being back in Canada, sometimes I do miss Dallas!

I live in Addison, which is almost between Dallas and Plano. Addison is the restaurant capital of the US! Restaurants that we have found and liked are Andiamo, a small Italian restaurant that does take reseverations but I have never had to wait there. Truluck's Steak and Stone Crab - pretty much the best you can do for seafood here. You will want to make reservations. I do like Gloria's. They have the best salsa. It is one of those loud Mexican places, but it also specializes in Salvadorian food. Newest mexican find is the Blue Mesa Grill. It is on the yuppie side, but they have very creative dishes. As always, there is Aubelo's which is just awesome mexican food, but it is usually really crowded so be careful and they don't take reservations. There is one in Plano. Papaduex's is a local chain and it is also usually crowded, but worth it if you can get in. It is cajun food.
I don't know any brunch places, so I can't help you there. Have fun!

I live in Dallas and there are a million good restaurants, but it seems like the only ones I can think of are Mexican.......since that is all we seem to eat. So, for Mexican I would suggest Mi Cocina, Javiers or Mia's. There is also another relatively new place called Ciudad. I have not been yet, but heard it is great. Breadwinners is great for breakfast/brunch. As for some non-mexican places Liberty, Daddy Jacks, PF Changs and Green Papaya are all really good. Hope that helps a little. Have fun!

My favorites:
Mexican: Mi Cocina, Mia's
Seafood: Newport's
Home Cooking: Celebration
Breakfast: Cafe Brazil
My favorite restaurant is in Highland Park Village and is called Patrizio's. There is one in Plano, but I don't like it as well. Also good is Zuzu Mexican Food across the street from SMU.
