I'm having supper club at my house for the first time in July and don't have a clue what to make. Really need foods that they can "pick up" to eat rather than have a sit down meal. Each couple (6 couples) will bring a bottle of red wine. Husband can cook on the grill outside if necessary. Also, need some "pre-meal" goodies. Love anything with cheese and sun-dried tomatoes. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

I promise to lend /actual/ recipes too -- but first, it might be nice to narrow this down a bit... I know you gave some hints already, but I'm going to inquire further:

1) Big meat eaters? Or lots of veggies?

2) Do you want this to be slightly thematic?
Or more of a smorgasboard?

3) Are we thinking "quick" or "lots of prep work" -- depends on what type of cook you are.

If you're interested, the Greek "Pizza" recipe I submitted under the Versatile Veggies thread makes a very delicious appetizer -- and it can be very elegant finger food!!

Thanks so much for answering me! This is the first time I've done this. As far as the meat, I would actually like for hubby to grill something, maybe to make some sort of bread with a grilled meat bite size sandwich.

2. It doesn't need to be real "quick", but nothing so time consuming that I am "worn-out" by party time.

3. This can be a varity of foods or I wouldn't mind at all having a theme. It is actually a group of people who get together to have really great wines that we wouldn;t ordinarily purchase for just ourselves. So the food should compliment the wines, but not
in a rigid sort of way.

Will check out your Greek Pizza. Many thanks!

How about satay - chicken, pork or beef? They can be done on the grill and if one of the wines is a light one (e.g. pinot noir)it will complement nicely.

Also, since you like sun-dried tomatoes - this is a great summery appetizer: Mix equal parts of rehydrated sun-dried tomatoes and fresh tomatoes (chopped), add chopped fresh basil and fresh pepper. Slice a baguette and spread with goat cheese. Top with tomato mixture and bake for about 5-10 minutes until the bread is toasted and the topping warm. Have fun!

Just some ideas:

How about a dip with sundried tomatoes, garlic, scallions, and cream cheese to serve on crackers?

Grilled vegetable sandwiches are lovely off the grill with basil mayo... but if you're looking for a meaty entree why not try miniature herbed turkey burgers with a flavored mayonnaise?

A big fruit salad is always a hit at a summer party. Or you could try serving up a fruit plate with a dip -- to be more "finger foodish".

Even a pasta salad can be eaten while standing...

Hi. Why don't you take a look at the summer issues of CL and the group can discuss which ones they have tried. You could photocopy the recipies chosen and everyone gets to cook. You could also try one recipe noone has tried. If you are leading the Supper club you could get the recipes either emailed or printed that way either everyone is in charge of one dish or are you in charge of all the dinner and you take turns? Depending how you have schedule your CL get togethers you can decide on a dinner menu. I believe May 2000had an article and recipes of one Cooking Club (the white choc raspberry cheesecake sure looks like a winner)
