which lemon dessert?

hi all! i'm in charge of dessert for 30 people for a bbq wedding shower. i am trying to decide between lemon-cream cheese cookie cups and lemon butter crunch bars. what do you all think? i haven't tried either one yet. also, anyone know which issue the bars were in? i know i have it somewhere... thanks!

Andrea - I vote for the "Butter Crunch Lemon-Cheese Bars" - p. 98, from Jan '01. I first tasted these when a friend of mine had us over for dinner. The topping is simply wonderful.

I recommended the recipe to my mom, and both dad and mom raved!

Now, I must admit that it's not really a "fair" vote, since I've never tried the lemon cream cheese cups... but I had to get my 2 cents in http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif- 'cause I love these!!

I've also never tried the Lemon Cream Cheese Cookie Cups, but I have to get another vote in for the Lemon ButterCrunch Bars. One of the reasons I loved that dessert so much was that it had a very fresh lemon flavor without being so overpowering. When serving lemon desserts to a group, you never know how some people are going to take to citrus strength! Some love that strong pucker-factor, and others like just a gentle tang. I found that the Lemon Bars were perfect. They're also a TOTAL breeze to make, and no one will ever know that you've pureed cottage cheese for that filling! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Another vote for the lemon butter crunch bars. A small warning: if any of your guests are even slightly lactose-intolerant (like me) more than one of those babies will be trouble!

Sorry to disappoint you, but I thought the lemon buttercrunch bars were awful. I just got the leftovers from the first batch I made out of the freezer. They sat in the fridge, nobody elected to eat them, and they were tossed in the trash. I haven't tried the cookie cups -- they sound cute, though.
