WOW, WOW, WOW!! I made this tonight. It's from Complete CL and it was quick, easy, and tasted amazing!! Half is already gone. If you make this, check it a little early (mine baked 5 minutes less). Also, I used Cinnamon Plus Spice Blend from Pampered Chef instead of all the different spices. It made it so much easier. A definite keeper. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Can you please post the recipe! With all the fresh stone fruit coming to the markets I still need to use up my apples!

1 T. margarine or butter, melted
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups thinly sliced, peeled Granny Smiths
1-1/4 cups flour
1 t. each of cinnamon and ginger
3/4 t. baking soda
1/4 t. nutmeg
1/8 t. each ground cloves and salt
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup stick margarine or butter, melted
1/3 cup molasses
1 large egg
1/2 cup plain fat-free yogurt
1/3 cup chopped, pitted dates
3 T. chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350. Coat bottom of 9" round cake pan with melted butter. Sprinkle brown sugar over butter. Arrange apple spokelike over brown sugar, working from center to pan to edge; set aside. Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour and next 6 ingredients; set aside. Beat sugar and 1/4 cup butter at medium speed of a mixer until well blended (about 5 minutes). Add molasses and egg; beat well. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture alternately with yogurt, beginning and ending with flour mixture; beat well after each addition. Stir in dates and walnuts. Pour batter over apple slices. Sharply tap pan once on counter to remove air bubbles. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 5 minutes on a wire rack. Loosen cake from sides of pan using a narrow metal spatula. Place a plate upside down on top of cake pan; invert cake onto plate. Serve warm. Yield: 8 servings (serving size: 1 wedge). I baked my cake 35 minutes. I used 2-3/8 t. Pampered Chef Cinnamon Spice Blend instead of all the spices (I still added salt and soda).
