Just found this recipe in the Kansas City Star...thought I'd share because it sounds SO GOOD. I think I'll make some for my 4th of July barbecue!
Strawberry Salsa Bravado
Spoon over grilled chicken, fish or pork. Or dollop over avocado slices (arranged in a fan) and garnish with crisp tortilla chips to create a colorful salad with gusto.
To make the salsa, combine the following:
1/2 jalapeno chile minced*
1 1/2 cups diced fresh strawberries
1/2 cup peeled and diced mango or papaya
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
1 teaspoon lime juice
salt to taste
pinch of sugar
Gently toss to combine and allow to stand 10 minutes before serving.
*1/2 pepper for lightweights; more if you love hot and spicy foods! Remove seeds and veins if you want a milder salsa.

Deanna! Leave it to you to find the sweet-spicey-savory recipes...
Have you ever made anything with chocolate and chilies? I've got a recipe for jalapeno brownies somewhere that I've been tempted to try.

Lorilei, no I haven't. Although I do know the combination of cocoa and chiles is fairly common in Mexican cooking.
(I'll let you in on a little secret only if you promise not to tell anybody else; they'll think I'm a freak...I DON'T REALLY LIKE CHOCOLATE!) =^..^=

Deanna,
This salsa does sound great and something that I can add to my piece of chicken or fish where the hubby can eat his just plain the way he likes it. Oh, and you are not a freak....I am not a chocoholic either...can leave it. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif
I am a chocolate addict, but I blame it on being 1/2 Dutch. It's required, I think. ANyway, saw and copied the Strawberry Salsa recipe and couldn't remember if I had posted recipes for citrus salsa or melon salsa (I think i have 2, one with watermelon and one without). If not, let me know and I'll try to type them up. They are really good with grilled fish.
