This is an old educational film about periods.
I was never schooled like this!
The father is way to involved-especially his question at the end!
If my dad walked in a room full of women talking about periods I guarantee he'd leave!

Wow, that's way TMI! Of course, the sex education I received was all prteey theoretical, and for a 10-year old, it totally did not compute when I started my first period!

This is so funny. I haven't watched it all yet but please tell me that the sister doesn't show her how to insert a tampon.

To think about how much easier it would have been for me if someone had just told me that sanitary napkins were "blue on one side and white on the other!"
How horrible to tell this poor innocent girl that she won't get the blood on her clothes. If they were going to be honest they would say, "Yes, you'll get blood on your clothes, on your sheets, on your mattress, on your pajamas...."

Maybe those huge pads (long before the ultra-thin were available) prevented blood from going everywhere. I doubt it.
If the blue and white thing floored her, imagine if she saw one with WINGS.
I just got my period a few minutes ago (sorry but it's timely.) I think I'm scarred for life.

They didn't. Just like the earliest forms of Pampers didn't keep baby-fluid from going everywhere.

I've seen that video. That would have scarred me for life. Weird. They're way too perky about that-time-of-the-month, too. It ain't a happy time.

All of the girls in my class learned about it when ****** came to school with a note telling our teacher that ****** was about to become a young woman and that if it happened in class, to please allow her to go to the office to call her mom to come and get her.
We were all mad as heck because...What makes ******so special? We all went home and complained to our moms. My mom spoke to another mom who had a booklet for me to read.
After reading, I was asked: "Do you have any questions?"
And that was the end of that! Or the beginning, I should say... ;)

Now that is some stellar acting. The dialog seems so ...um...natural. And definitely unrehearsed. Wow.
I didn't make it to the end. How many times do they repeat the key phrase "every woman has one every three or four weeks"? I think I was up to fifteen when I stopped playing it.
We saw one in fifh grade but it was a touch better than this. And then we were handed those belt-contraption things and send back to class.

The reason for the repetition, and the "slow/stilted conversation, I believe, is because this was (I certainly HOPE it's not being used anymore  ) a training video for girls with "special needs". I think I 1st saw it about 25 years ago when I was a very new professional and went to a training on sexuality and disabilities- it seemed pretty stupid even then!
We're doing much better now. Two weeks ago I did a training for our program staff on sexuality/developmental disabilities and I'd be banned from here for sure if I linked to the video's I showed. :D
