Hello all,

I'm in the market for an indoor grill or grill pan. Something not too huge, because I cook for one.

CL had a little blurb on grill pans recently, but when I perused old threads on this topic, I saw that a lot of people have had difficulty cleaning their grill pans. Also, I was thinking about a George Forman grill but several people have commented that it makes meat quite tough.

So my question to you all is: do any of you have a grill or grill pan that you love? If so, please tell me about it!!

TIA,
Julie

Our grill is older is Charbroil either 40,000 or 35,000 BTU. It has been used a lot and we replaced some parts (you can buy them directly) Actually this week I believe Kmart had grills on sale (Charbroil brand too)

I hate my grill pan. I bought a cast iron one a few years ago when I was living in a temporary apartment. It was very difficult to clean and the food just didn't taste right.

We have 2 grills. I know that one should be enough, but my husband and I each had one before we married. Having 2 comes in handy if we are having a grill party. One of the nice things about buying a quality one is that you can get replacement parts. My husband's grill is probably 20 years old. It works excellent, but isn't sold any longer.

I would recommend buying 2 propane tanks. Purchasing two isn't that expensive and having the extra fuel on hand has been a lifesaver.

My husband and I love our square Calphalon hard anodized grill pan, and have used it for a multitude of fun little tasks -- including grilling chicken, fish and quesadillas. The pan has excellent heat distribution, and makes the best grill marks I've seen for an indoor grill!

Cleaning the pan has never been a problem -- the surface is naturally stick-resistant, and most food comes off easily.

The most important aspect, for me anyhow is the "feel" of the pan. It fits well on my stove burners, and I can manage lifting it even when it's full of food. It's a bit awkward for storage -- but that's my compromise http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Definitely explore your options before buying. I know there are more good pans out there, and it might take a bit of looking to find your 'fit'.

I have the same pan and love it to death. I have used it more than I ever imagined I would - even in the oven for salmon. Cleaning it is pretty easy too - just make sure you let it cool down.

I too have a Calphalon nonstick grill pan and I love it. I have used it 3 times this week (steak, salmon, pork chops) and it is great. Can go from stove to oven easily (pork chops started on the stove and then finished with cheese on top under the broiler -- recipe from Penzey's, quite delish). We were given a George Foreman grill and I am not a big fan. It probably real good if you are really in a hurry, but for me it cooks things way too fast (can't get everything else ready quick enough) and I don't feel like I have enough control. Also, its a big pain to clean since you can't run it under water. It would be much better if the grill surfaces were removable. Most people seem to like them, but I prefer my grill pan.
