I am looking for a good chicken and dumplings soup recipe. Does anybody have one that they would like to share?
Thanks, Karen

Karen,
I've never had much luck with dumplings but I tried this recipe a couple of months ago and the dumplings actually worked! It's from A Cowboy's Cookbook, written by T.L. Bush, ©1985.
Note: I am posting the recipe as written by the author!
Chicken and Dumplings
Chicken
1 (3-4 lb) chicken boiled in about 3 qts water
3-4 bouillon cubes
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/2 stick butter or margarine
Boil all this slowly in a heavy covered dutch oven or large heavy kettle until the chicken begins to fall away from the bones. Remove the chicken. Slice to serve on a platter or remove from bones and return to kettle. To this, add the dumplings.
Dumplings
4 cups flour
8 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons salt
2 large eggs, well beaten
6 tablespoons melted butter
1 1/3 cups milk
Sift all dry ingredients together. Make a well in the middle of the mixture and pour in the eggs, butter and milk. It should make a stiff batter. Drop by teaspoonfuls in the boiling broth by dipping the spoon in and letting the broth remove the batter from the spoon. Do not stir but cover the kettle tightly and simmer for about 15-20 minutes. Dumplings will be biscuit-like inside.
Serve these with the chicken and a vegetable or salad. You'll fill at least 4-6 hungry cowboys and thye'll be begging for invitations back.
