Alright everyone, I need your creative insights...PLEASE! If you have the TV FOOD network, you may know the show Iron Chef. They introduce one "mystery" ingredient and then the two chefs compete to see who can create the most delicious dishes from this ingredient.

My BF and I are going camping next weekend with my brother and his girlfriend. We were talking about what camping food we were going to eat and my brother came up with the idea of having an Iron Chef contest between the two couples. (A neutral person will be picking the ingredient).

So, in the spirit of being prepared, I want to plan the things to go along with Iron Chef dish. You know, side dishes, snacks, dessert. Or maybe get some ideas on HOW to prepare this mystery ingredient.

I have already searched for campfire cooking on this BB, and have found some good recipes, and I also looked at the reynolds wrap site to see about packet cooking. But, I am looking for creative and tried and true ideas for campfire cooking.

I know we'll win the contest with all you on my side! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

TIA!
Kim

I'm sorry but sort of confused. If you don't know what the mystery ingredient is, how can you plan dishes to go with it? Or what technique to use for cooking with it? And have there been any limits as to what the ingredient might be?

sneezles,

Oops. Left a few details out...The mystery ingredient will be used for the main dish. It will be some type of meat or fish. We have to plan sides, desserts on our own. (I think in case the whole thing goes up in smoke, so to speak. At least we'll have something to fall back on!)

Oh! And of course- the method of coooking will be grill over the campfire.

I haven't camped in years either, but it sounds like a blast. DH and I get a kick out of that show. What a fun idea for a party. Maybe a good idea for some dueling supper clubs...
