I just recently joined Weight Watchers and would like to know how many points is in some green split pea soup which I made. Maybe somebody can help.

2 cups split green peas (dried)
3 quarts water
1 onion
2 carrots
I added salt only when I ate some.

There was no added oil, fat, etc.

I am wondering how to calculate the points for this. I hope it isn't too high as it is so filling and so tasty. I threw the bag for the split peas out so don't know the calorie count nor the fibre count.

I would appreciate any help.

Hi Barb,

I'm on the Core plan and I know that it would definitely be Core. You should get the Complete Food Companion book from them...it will help you figure out points. Anyway:

split peas, cooked 1/2 cup - 2 points
split peas, dry 1/4 cup - 3 points
onions, cooked 1 cup - 1 point
onions, uncooked 1 cup - 0 points
carrot, cooked 1 cup - 1 point
carrot, uncooked 1 cup - 0 points

Does this help? :)

If we assume recipe makes 12 servings, the per serving info is:
121 Calories; trace Fat; 9g Dietary Fiber;

You can only count up to 4 g of fiber for WWs. I don't have a PointsFinder in front of me right now, but it would be about 2 pts

Good luck to you with Weight Watchers; it's a great program!

Thanks Angelina and Jane. It's good to know it's so low in points while being so filling at the same time.

I have always been successful at Weight Watchers except for the last time and I had just quite smoking and didn't have my heart in it. This time (a year and a half later) I've had enough of carrying around this extra 30 lbs. so I'm determined. It's going to be slow but oh so worth it! And of course being over 60 makes it a little harder as well!

Thanks for your help.
