HI All,
Awhile back there was some discussion about the free years subscription to Cooking Light when you purchased MasterCook Cooking Light version. I sent in my proof of purchage materials in mid January and recieved my first free issue today. So it took about 5 months. I'm not complaining, just letting everyone else know that it does take a while to process these free subscriptions. Also, they go through another company, not directly through Cooking Light. When I look up my account on the Cooking Light site, it directs me call another 800 number. I believe it is a magazine clearing house company.
Anyway, I'm thrilled to get my first free issue and not too late either! ;-)

thanks for the info...
I sent my MasterCook stuff in three months ago (maybe the beginning of March or so), and I still haven't got the free subscription to kick in.
Wienie-I have the same problem. I received my first "free" issue today, but like you I just want to extend the subscription I already have. I was going to call CL and tell them but after reading this post I am not sure what to do. Please let me know if you find out anything, and I will do the same. Thanks!

It is ironic you should bring this up.
I just contacted CL to find out if my current subscription had been extended 1 year (with the Mastercook Freebie) and they told me to contact MC directly.
I sent them an e-mail but they have not responded.
I'm concerned, now that you say it's not done through CL. I don't want another separate subscription, I just want my current extended. Someone on this BB suggested sending in the MC form and making a notation to extend. We'll see.
Anyone else run into this problem?

I called about 2 weeks ago on the same thing. I was printing out the rebate form to go with the CL program I was giving my mom for Mother's Day. I was reminded to check my address label on the last issue and found it had the same expiration date as a year ago.
There is an 800 number on the Sierra rebate form (found on their website under rebates). I called that number and was able to verify that they had received my rebate and sent it on, but when I called CL, they had no record of it. Sierra's folks said they would reprocess it and send it again. CL told me it should kick in with the July issue since the June was already being shipped out. I have marked my calendar check the label when the July issue arrives.

I sent my rebate in to MC about 5 mo. ago to receive a free year of CL and I still haven't heard a thing about it. I was hoping to extend my current subscription, but I just checked the CL site and it says my subscription ends 3/01/02. Who do I contact about this? Is there an 800 # to Sierra? Just wanting an update on what happened when others sent their rebates in.
Thanks!

Linda,
as you can see from my post last May, I sent my rebate in last February or March. It has been almost a year and I am still "waiting" (Ha!) for my CL subscription to start. What a crock!!

Thanks for letting me know, Valerie.
OK, I ended up calling Sierra (1-877-446-0184) and they told me to call Young America (?) (1-800-942-8618) because that's who handles a lot of their rebates. They told me they sent my rebate on to CL and that I needed to call them. So, then I called CL (1-800-336-0125) and they told me they never received the rebate!! I went round and round with this lady and she put me on hold and came back and said she went ahead and processed the order. She claims it should kick in with my April issue and there shouldn't be any interuption in my service. We shall see! This has been a pain in the rear from the beginning. When I bought the software, someone had torn the rebate off the box! I went to Sierra's website to print off the rebate form and it was already gone. I was finally able to get the rebate form...anyway to make a long story short...I'm not sure this was all worth it!!

thanks for the update Linda. I am sorry you had to go through all of that hassle.
I guess I knew that I would be in for the same run-around, so that is why I simply never pursued it thoroughly. I did call CL, but they told me to call MC. I can't remember if I ever called MC or not. (If I didn't it was because I foresaw the run-around that you went through with this.)

Linda and Val, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Just read your messages now.
Months ago I checked into this and got the same run around. Apparently Sierra or whoever handles this, kept blaming CL and CL kept stating that they had received the renewal but as a half price charge to me.
Back to Sierra again, who, after speaking with 4 different people, finally admitted they sent it in to CL with an incorrect coding.
That was why CL was trying to charge me for the renewal.
Anyway, it all got straightened out and my subscription was extended, but it definately was a hassle.
I've resigned myself nowadays, to follow up on everything and to expect things to screw up. Pretty cynical, I know, but necessary.
Hope yours turns out well.
Jeanne
