I'd love to hear what costumes everyone's children are wearing this year. My nephews don't celebrate Halloween, but my friends' daughter will either be an astronaut or a princess.

Lainey (3 yrs) is going to be a frog this year. Hop hop hop. She picked out a pumpkin outfit for her brother (6 months).
Colleen I love the dichotomy of astronot and princess!

DD, who has never wanted to be anything very adventurous, has decided to be a SPIDER this year. Go figure!
We went shopping yesterday and found all the supplies. Guess what we will be doing this weekend.... Fortunately, it isn't too complicated, because I am not a seamstress by any stretch of the imagination. Safety pins and fishing line are the order of the day. She is very excited about the black nail polish and black lipstick! :p

Hanne (3) is a monkey and Alex (1) is a puppy. Hanne's preschool had their Halloween party yesterday. All the classes paraded through the halls and I was floored by the number of princesses. It's cold here--how do princesses stay warm when they trick or treat?

Ella (2) is going to be a chicken. My mom bought a chicken coat last year on clearance and I found some yellow sweatpants to keep her warm. I made her chicken feet out of yellow rubber gloves. She's been practicing saying "trick or treat please" (she so polite) and her chicken sounds all month!

After previous years of being a dragonfly(my choice), a cowgirl ( my choice), and Strawberry Shortcake (her choice)...I was THRILLED when my 3 1/2 year old proclaimed a month ago that she wanted to be a WITCH for halloween!!! Perhaps the fact that we've been listening to the Wicked Soundtrack in the car for several weeks has influenced her!
I had such fun sewing a black jumper ( it could be 90 degrees or 50 degrees here, so we have to be flexible ). She's got a witch hat, several layers of different colored tulle for under the dress, funny colored striped tights and a cute little broom! I have a witch hat, a black skirt and a black tshirt that says, "Just Call Me Wicked".
I can't wait - can you tell?

Jameson (9) will be a Yu-Gi-Oh master; Ian (7) will be a nerd :) ; Colin (6) will be Darth Vader; and Caitlyn (3), will be, of course, a princess. She has a pink furry jacket that she can wear if it's cold. And we'll probably put pants under her dress. Ian has thick black glasses, a pocket protector and a bow-tie to wear. He's also going to wear his younger brothers white button-down shirt and black pants (pulled-up under his chest :)); both of which are way too small on him.

Ben(8) will be Darth Vader, Max(5) will be a snake(got it at Costco a few years ago) and Ava(3) will be Snow White. For a while it was going to be the Easter Bunny but now we are going the princess route. She was allowed to wear her costume to dance class this week, and it was just a sea of little princesses-too cute!!

Garret (age 6) is going to be a jet fighter pilot. Last night I took him to the local college to trick or treat thru the dorms. The poor kid fell down a flight of stairs! He looked like he was a stunt man in a movie. Toppled head over heels, rolled, flipped etc.... He was crying and his lip got fat. He said, mommy, I was trying to stop but I couldn't! :( he is much better today (and ftr, finished getting all the candy he could :o )

Well, I have taken Natalie (almost 2) out 3-4 times to shop for a halloween costume, and each time she has thrown a fit and run away, so I guess she will be going as Natalie for halloween this year.
She does have a firefighter hat and a badge that she got at storytime a few weeks ago, and has overalls and a red turtleneck so I guess she can be a firefighter. She's been into pushing boxes around saying "choo choo train" so I was thinking about decorating a box to look like a fire engine.
Oh well. :o

Maxwell is going to be a pirate. The outfit is too cute. It is a one-piece jumper, but looks like a ruffled shirt, vest (with leather on the shoulders) and striped pants and a belt. There are even slipper shoes and a hat that looks like a tied bandana. After Halloween, I think we all need to post pics. I love seeing little ones dressed up.

Poor Garrett!
Ginger (7) is going to be a bat (the flying kind). She wanted to be a spider, but we didn't see a spider costume and she's been studying bats in the gifted program at school.
Mariel (4) is going to be Tinkerbelle. I was just at her class party, and two parents said "what a pretty fairy". Um...No...she's Tinkerbelle. One dad called her a Barbie Fairy. GRRRR I loathe Barbie!

I agree! That's the one part I don't like about taking Ella out trick-or-treating, I miss seeing all the little kid that stop at my house :(

A friend in the neighborhood host a bit todo on halloween, so after trick or treating a HUGE group goes over there and we get to see everyone in their costumes...it's my fave part!

I LOVE halloween!!!! DD (3) actually has 2 costumes. We've got 3 parties, a parade, and trick or treat to squeeze in between tomorrow and Monday.
She's going to be the bride of Frankenstein with her little co-hort in crime dressed up as Frankenstein. He obviously got to pick that costume. I keep telling her the bolts in her neck are earrings, so she's starting to warm up to this one :)
The other costume she picked out is a chef outfit! A girl after her mommy's heart!

We have Cinderella (my 4 year old blond haired, blue eyed doll) and the Hulk (which is really much funnier in person- the picture won't do my 3 year old justice).
um, and then there's Snow White (me) which elicits snickers from my co-workers for some odd reason :o
My little girl wanted us to be Princesses together. She wanted me to be Cinderella, too, but my coloring is better suited to Snow White.

Some poor little girl who is going to grow up brainless and trying to get body measurements that are impossible, and will therefore end up killing her.
I'll get off my soapbox now.
On another note.....If I have some green fabric I might make myself a Peter Pan costume to go along with Tinkerbelle.

Another Star Wars costume here. Dh#1 is being Episode 2 Annikin. I am not a great seamstress, and I have been pegging away at the cloak, shoulder armour, dickey and tunic for some time now. I am glad the deadline has finally come and I will be forced to finish! ;)
The other two have raided our costume box and are (wonderfully!) wearing costumes from their older brother that my talented mother created over the years. DS#2 (the only dark haired one) is being Harry Potter in the most beautiful quidditch robes you will ever see. And DS#3 is being a T-Rex in an extraordinary costume.
And yes! We should all post photos.

I third the motion on posting pics (ours will be on my site as well, along with a picture of my parents' dog, Beau, who dresses up every year. This year, he'll be a butterfly).
Anyway, Nicholas is going as Spiderman. DH is very happy I let him choose his own costume this year :D, but I'm sure there'll be some debate when it comes time to put the mask on.
His girlfriend is going to be Cinderella.
Very busy weekend ... party at their old school tonight, party and parade at their new school Monday, and DH and our neighbors are going to be working on finishing our yard all weekend. We're one of "those people" that go all out, with stuffed monsters, floating ghosts, etc. (also pictures on the site to go up on Monday ;)), and then trick-or-treating. Like others, I like taking Nicholas trick-or-treating, but hate missing doling out the candy at home too.
Glad the weather report is good for the weekend, even 60s on Monday!
Terri - the witch costume you made sounds adorable. :)
My 2-year-old is going as a construction worker, but when asked last night he tried to say he was going to be "Brian the Builder." :D

DS(5) is going to be a red Power Ranger (no, he doesn't watch the show but he knows about them from his friends).
DD(3) wanted to be Cassie from Dragon Tales but the costume was sold out. Instead she is going to be a Hula Dancer.

I sincerely doubt the 16 year old will be anything (but if need be, he can be a Varsity Football Player very easily ;) ). Younger son (13) is between a pirate genie (he has a pirate top and my old belly dancing pants) or just a genie. We need to go hunt for a vest if he decides on the plain genie. He also thought about a scream pirate but I don't think the school will allow them to wear masks.

DD (16) isn't dressing up this year, and DS is working at a haunted house at a neighbor's house so I am not sure what he is doing. He was talking about wrapping himself in foil to get a free burrito at chipotle, but I think the cost of the foil would be more than the cost of the burrito. :)

Thomas (4) is going as Spiderman (DH says he is going to be Peter Parker). Josie (10 mos) will be a pussycat.

I have the CUTEST Dumbo costume from Disney (complete with the little mouse on the rim of Dumbo's hat), but DS - 18 months - went through a little growth spurt and now it doesn't fit. So he'll be Pooh dressed as a Bee.

my youngest son will be a football player... one of the more calmer years it seems..
and my oldest says that he is not going to dress up this year! Maybe its an age thing?? But I think HE wants to but his friends dont...
I asked my oldest if he and his 2 friends( we call them the 3 amigos because they do EVERYTHING together!) well what about dressing up like waiters.? Just a white dress shirt, a burgundy tie, black pants, and a long white bistro apron. They can draw on little mustaches in black eyeliner.. (well to enhance what theyve got starting to grow there on their own, ahahah!) when someone answers the door they can put out a cocktail tray instead of a goodie bag to collect their treats! LOL! Sounds cool to me...
Sara's going to be a witch, same as last year, but this year's costume is a bit more "modern" for lack of a better word.
Sammy goes to bed before trick or treat even starts, so I guess we'll have to wait until next year for her to go out!
Here's Baxter's costume:

Sue, I love Baxter's costume. We tried to dress Bailey up one year and he ate his costume off, so that was the end of that.
Logan(2 1/2) will be THomas the train and DH will be a doctor, when he takes him araound trick or treating

My 15 month old is a little tiger. And the best part of it - was I waited until last week - and got the costume at costco for $4.69. Couldn't do better.
We went to a Halloween party on Friday - and he thought the whole thing was hilarious. It is a little plush costume with the tiger head on the hood. He thinks the tail is the best part - runs around holding it!! He is so cute in it.

Here are my 2 Super Heroes! I think they ran from house to house for at least 2 miles around our neighborhood. I'm so glad the weather ended up being nice here (after torrential downpours all afternoon) - Wonder Woman just wouldn't have been the same with a sweatshirt.

Here is a picture of our firefighter. It only took 2 or 3 kids coming to the door for DD to figure what trick or treat was all about, and she picked up the pumpkin bucket and headed out the door. We had to do pictures when we got home.
