Tuesday when the BB was down for so long and because it has been raining all week here in Massachusetts and I couldn't garden.......what to do? Go to my comfort place (b)CHOCOLATE(/b) Well, I think I went on every chocolate site on the web looking at Brownie recipes each one sounding better then the next (it's ok to look and drool).
One thing I think I learned from all of this "research" is that using a superior chocolate can make an enormous difference. I have always been satisfied with regular old brownies but I guess they can go to the sublime if you use a really good chocolate. One brand that I never heard of was really enticing. Have any of yhttp://www.scharffenberger.com/recipes/recipes.htmou used it. ScharffenBerger?

Darn, Valerie, I couldn't Bold chocolate. Now what did I do wrong? Also I couldn't highlight that ScharffenBerger website. Oh well. I am totally computer illiterate what can I say!

maizeyoats...may I help! Your brackets should be the square ones [ ] not the ( ) and to make a link put before the copied address and then after the address...remember no spaces between.

Thanks for the site. http://www.scharffenberger.com/recipes/recipes.htm

Going there now to check it out. Oh, and yes the rain is much needed and hopefully will stop soon. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

mom, go back and edit your initial message using the little picture with the pencil near it. the mistake you made was that you used the ( ) keys instead of the [ ] keys. you can change that by editing.

also, you can fix your URL by simply deleting the "y" at the beginning of the URL and putting the "y" where it belongs, in front of thou "ou."

the URL didn't light up becasue there needs to be a space on either side of it. that will be easy for you to do by just editing.

I was really rushing to get to CURVES and as soon as I was on my way in the car I realized what I did with the brackets.

maizeyoats,
I sympathize with you about the BB going down. Only here in Texas it's been too hot in the afternoon to garden (88º predicted for today so I'm sure it will go over 90º). So I do wander around the net, too. That's when I found the peanut butter pie recipe. I actually made it the other day and it was well worth the calories. The boys demolished it (oh, to be young and have a metabolism!) but I was satisfied with my little slice!

Sneezles,
Wouldn't it be great if we could go out shopping for a METABOLISM (and I don't mean diet pills)
In the meantime we can satisfy ourselves with the small slices of our goodies.

maizeyoats,
Rumor has it if I was to walk to the store I would find my metabolism along the way!

I heard about Scharffen Berger chocolate on a Food Network show a few months ago. I loked them up on the web also, and found out they have a factory in Berkley. My husband and I headed to San Francisco last weekend and I made a beeline for Berkely :-)

They just started giving factory tours in May (you can make tour reservations online), and they are still bringing in some new equipment (this is a new factory -- they have another at some oother Berkley location). The tour was fabulous! John Scharffenberger gave it and he was funny, engaging and full of interesting tidbits about the history of chocolate. He used to make champagne and brought all of the information from that process into this one. We did a chocolate tasting and I have to say, it is the best chocolate -- very yummy! We even saw the first bars coming off of the newly refurbished line, which was fun. I felt like i was in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I would highly recommend a visit to the factory if you are near Berkley. They said they will be adding a cafe as well where they will have lots of yummy chocolate treats!

Sarah,
Thanks so much for all that information on Scharffen Berger. That certainly sounds like it was a wonderful tour. I hope he will have so much success with his cafe that he will decide to open one in Massachusetts.
In the meanwhile I really stocked up on their chocolate products when I went to Bread and Circus yesterday. I am going to try the brownie recipe from their website.
