As a gift for my birthday, my co-workers gave me a fuzzy logic rice cooker.I happily went to Whole Foods Market and bought some rice. This evening I tried to make Italian Arborio Rice using the white rice setting. When it was done, we took it out and there seemed to be plastic like coating mixed in with the rice. I'm not sure if something came off the rice cooker bowl or if it's just a starchy film that developed. I know this probably seems like a weird question but any ideas would be appreciated!

I've seen that starchy film. I don't get it every time I use the rice cooker, but it's definitely familiar, and is not to worry about.

Katie and Val,
Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure what to do so I threw it away!
Now I know it's OK.

Did you rinse the rice before you cooked it? I always rinse rice until the water runs clear unless it's arborio rice for risotto.

Cindy - I can't answer your question, but is your office hiring? Yikes - I want to work somewhere where coworkers give fuzzy logic rice cookers for birthday presents :) Nice. Happy belated birthday!

It was really nice of them...the funny thing is I mentioned it only briefly
once during the summer and they remembered!
