View Full Version : How many trick or treaters did you have?

I made 100 treat bags. Gave 7 out on the bus to the high schoolers, took three to physical therapy, and gave out the rest at the door. After we turned out the lights and closed the door, we still had a group of 4 to knock. We had a small bowl of candy left over, so I treated them out of that.
So, we treated 94 trick or treaters.
I keep my school bus at home, but through the years have taken it to the bus compound on Halloween. Kept it home last night and no vandalism or eggs or paper. That was a relief.
All in all, for Halloween, it was a good evening.

5 :( That's all we got here in Chicago. There are so many kids in that neighbourhood but somehow they avoided our house. We even spent an hour sitting outside on the porch but no one stopped by. What a bummer.
It was my first Halloween in the US and I am really disappointed :(

I had a dismal showing. One group, 3 kids. :( Fortunately the boys like the candy I bought to give away

With a neigborhood full of kids, we only had about 35. I bought 120 full size candy bars (4 boxes from Costco)  I wish I hadn't opened them, so I could return them. Now, I will have to find ways to avoid them and give them away. :(

We had about 35 last night, which a lot more than I'm used to, honestly!
Some of the CUTEST kids ever!

I didn't have any! I was so bummed. :( I made a special trip to See's to buy candy for the fairies and ghosts I thought were going to show up this year. Are kids not trick-or-treating anymore? Do they all head to the malls?

Similar problems here!
We're in a residential neighborhood, with lots of kids, and have been getting more every year. Last year we had about 65 kids. I heard the weather report for this year- forecast to be in the low 70s and clear, so I thought the kids were going to be out in droves. Well, it was a shockeroo because we only got, I'm guessing, 30 or 35. We practically cheered last night when two young adolescents came late, around 9ish; boy did they make out like bandits! (Gave 'em BIG fistfuls!)
We have SO much candy left!
I knew predicting Halloween turnout is tricky, but really, I think it might be easier to be a weather forecaster. :)

We had roughly 50...and I have to say they were without exception nice, polite and really sweet. Even the kids who were too old to Trick or Treat were cute enough that I didn't care. I don't think I had a single group slink away without a "thank you."

We had about 125 kids of varying shapes, sizes, ages. Only one kid who really didn't have a costume, but he was bigger than I was so I didn't push the issue.
But I still have leftover candy, because in years past we have had close to 200 kids. I think I'm going to hide it in the basement freezer.

We only had four. :(
My coworkers are enjoying the leftover candy. Unfortunately so am I!

This year I bought the MOST amount of candy but had the LEAST amount of trick-or-treaters. Figures. Guess what I had for lunch today?
We had 1. The neighbor, and they even forgot about us until after his costume was off, they drove him over and carried him up the stairs because he had no shoes on.
They bought the house from his parents so we have known them for years and have kind of adopted their boy as our "nephew". I bought him a toy and gave him a 6 pack of applesauce, his favorite. So I would not have candy around the house.
When wour DD's were little we use to get kids but now the neighborhood has not really turned yet to new families, and most of us are now "empty nesters" :)
I do miss them though, they are usually so cute.

We moved from a neighborhood that we had anywhere from 65-85 kids to one where we have zero kids. :( We really miss them.

A big ol zippo, none, nada. Very upsetting, but nothing new. We live across the street from the elementary school and my husband decorates just as much for halloween as he does for Christmas (think Griswald's!!). But we live on a main street and no one else had a single light on in their house that was visible from the road, so with those two things against us we didn't get any trick-or-treaters. Bummer. :(

Everyone's invited to my house next year.
My husband had to go inside and hide after half an hour b/c he'd already given away the 144 items we were giving out (notepads that look like cookies). Dumb of me not to order more. One of our neighbours has all these creepy, motion-activated monsters in his yard so people come from all over.

NONE! Disappointing. This is our first Halloween in our new place, which is in a cul-de-sac of mostly older people. Guess I'll have to find something to do with that bowl of Twix bars... :D

One group of 3 kids. I told them to take all the candy they wanted. They said they'd be sure to come back next year!

We had about 60 (3 bags of candy). That's less than usual. I have quite a bit of candy leftover.
I agree about the thank yous. The kids were without exception polite AND seemed to be having a wonderful night. :) Today my driveway is covered with little blobs of silly string. They must have had a silly-string war. :D

We recently moved into our neighborhood and we had just over 200 which I'm told was a modest number from previous years. Of course I didn't get home until 6:30ish so I go a late start. Several homes in the neighborhood go all out and we get a lot of kids from a large neighboring town that has some not-so-safe areas.

We were away last night, (my kids don't trick or treat, so we take them out to dinner) but my neighbor reported giving out well over 500 pieces of candy. We live in the suburbs, and we get lots of parents driving their kids in from a neighboring city, where maybe it is not as safe to trick or treat.
Our paper reported that one high school teacher in another suburb gives kids who are (in his opinion) to old to trick or treat a sheet of story problems. He crumples up the sheet, and slips it unseen into their bag. :D

I can say that we easily had 325 and maybe closer to 350, maybe more!!! And it was raining - I wonder how many more we might have had on a dry evening?
Funny that you get kids from the city, moonbeam because we get slammed with the kids from the more rural areas where there aren't enough houses and/or no sidewalks.
What I don't like is that so many parents drive their kids along the street instead of parking and walking! Makes it total chaos and dangerous for those of us who DO walk.
It's kind of fun, but I could do with a few less little goblins - with that many, it's often hard to even enjoy the costumes because you have a long line of kids waiting!
Next year we'll be in our new house in a smaller subdivision and I'll have to remember that I don't have to spend $50 on candy anymore! :)

WOW!!!! I think we only had about 50 kids. I wonder if my leftover candy bars would freeze for next year!

Any teacher at your local school would probably be thrilled to have them donated. I am constantly buying big boxes at Costco to give out as rewards for returning report cards, being good for the sub, returning homework for the whole week, etc.
We had about 25, and I was pleased that we had them after the storm we had, but I would like more. We live on a circle with only about 45-50 homes. We don't seem to get many kids from outside our area unless its someone joing a friend who lives here. We have a number of families with older high school and college kids, so I think we did pretty good for a rainy school night.
I can't imagine having 2-300. Our next door neighbor said the area where they moved from would have that many.

Not here -- they aren't allowed to have it at the schools. Well, the teachers could have it, but they can't give it to a student.
