I am finally trying to catch up on the huge backlog of digital photos we have that I have never gotten printed. I have them all in folders saved in "My Pictures" under "My Documents" in Windows (these were default folders, so I guess they are standard). I am trying to upload them so I can order prints, but whenever I select more than 1 or 2 individual pictures at a time, my computer starts automatically copying the files I have selected. Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a way to make it stop? It seems like it must just be a setting on my computer, but I can't find it anywhere. It would be a whole lot faster to be able to select several pictures at once and upload them, but it is going to be a huge waste of space on my hard drive to have duplicate copies of all our pictures!

Thanks for any help/suggestions!

What program are you trying to upload them to?

I use Costco and Walgreens and they work pretty good. Are you putting your mouse on each photo and clicking it to highlight it?

If so click on the first picture once then hold your shift key down and click on the last picture you want. This will highlight the group.

Let me know if you need more help.

I'm on the chatters too :)

I am uploading to shutterfly tonight, but it doesn't seem to matter which program I am uploading to, or if I am just selecting photos to work with internally -- it has always done this. I am selecting multiple files the way you suggested. I have never seen windows do this, but it has always done this with photos on this computer -- very strange.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Clairea - this happens to be also, but just on occasion. I seems to happen when I attempt to copy too many photos at one time, so I just limit the number I select. It's frustrating to have all the "copy of ...." photos, and have to delete all of them.

Wintersummer, that is exactly what happens to me -- it happens when I try to select too many photos at once. It is frustrating not to be able to just select a whole group at once. I'm sorry it happens to you to, but at least now I don't feel quite so much like I am losing it (at least in this regard :D ).
