Put it here.

Escher is due for a cleaning weekend, so that's what I'll be doing on Saturday.

Also, I've been tasked with a seek and destroy mission for a mouse that has found its way into our house.

My tools: Flashlight and a hammer. It won't be pretty.

Re: your mission...we had an intrepid intruder who ate the peanut butter off the center of a sticky trap and didn't get stuck!

We went back to the less child-friendly option of snap trap, loaded it with PB and the mouse again removed the pb without getting caught.

Big ammo time...loaded it with some aromatic havarti with peppers and herbs and we had success!

What a pain. This is a new house for us and DH found three places outside the house that provided access inside. He stuffed them with steel wool, and hopefully that will be the end of any unwelcome visitors.

Good luck with your adventure. We'll be cleaning here, too, and planning some fun after that.

Wow, cleaning abounds! I am tackling my garage this weekend. I run the hospitality area for our swim team (we feed the coaches and officials), and I have untold boxes of plates, plastic silverware, etc. that need to be consolidated and inventoried. Fortunately, the hurricane force winds that were here yesterday have died down and it should be in the mid-50's so the project will be tolerable.

When I moved into my new house in CA, I trapped 7 mice in one night. The development took over a field and the mice were none too happy to leave. I had the most success with PB. Breadmama you obviously had a foodie mouse! :)

LOL! Good luck Escher. After reading you're stories I'm glad I have a pest control service. No flashlights & hammers for me.....just a phone. :D

I've got to put up the halloween decorations tomorrow, but other than that the cleaning can wait until Monday.

This morning I'm going to be a Mystery Reader for Ginger's class. I have to go to the office and page the teacher. Then I get to wear a black sheet and answer yes & now questions w/o speaking until the kids figure out who I am. It should be fun. Since my shopping is done that's it for today.

Tomorrow is cleaning outside & the chili cook-off at church. Sunday I'm going to try to drag everyone to church (we've been playing hookie) and DH is going to have lunch with a friend. They will probably watch football too and the girls and I will be having homemade pizza for dinner w/o daddy! :D ;D

Well DH is due to return from Iraq on Monday or Tuesday :D :) :D so lots of cleaning here as well. Also lots of packing and preparing for our very much needed upcoming vacation (Puerto Vallarta).

And if I have time I need to reprint one of my recipe books, because it was ruined when I turned on the dishwasher not knowing that the sink was clogged, which then overflowed all over the counter. :( I also need to work more on our potential future house plan since we’re talking to builders in a couple weeks. But first, I’m getting totally caught up on DS’s baby book….almost there!

Good morning everyone. Not much on the plate for this weekend. DH is helping his partners father put siding on his garage tomorrow and then I'm hoping we can get people over to our house for a cookout. I want to make summer food one last time since it'll be in the 70's.
Tonight I want to go see Jarhead but it depends on what our money situation is...
And Sunday is of course, football and if the Eagles lose again, I'm just going to cry because then they are out of the season. And since we live where we do, we rarely get Pittsburgh games and they're my back-up team. Boo.

Wow, Blissful, how great that your DH is returning in a few days! Happy homecoming to you and your family!

Girl Scout cookie sales start on Saturday in our area, so I will be walking the neighborhood with DD. She handles it all herself and is quite a good saleswoman. I just hang around nearby but out of her way (generally across the street she is working) and let her do her thing.

DS is attending a couple of workshops presented by Mark Hayes (a fairly well-known music writer/arranger) at our church. DS is pretty excited as he has played piano for several years and loves to "jazz up" his music. One of the workshops is for keyboard and deals with improvisation.

DH commented that we need to start raking, so I guess that's where our free time will go. At least the weather is staying nice. 70's again today!

Oh my gosh, linsleyd - they better not lose again! My husband just held his head in his hands and muttered, "why? why? why?" He's just now able to feed himself. Kidding - but that was quite awful last Sunday. He has season tickets which won't mean much if they don't pull it together.

Anyway, tonight is at-home date night, tomorrow shopping for nephew's birthday and some clothes for an upcoming trip, Sunday catch up on laundry and get ready for the week.

As a Broncos fan, I was absolutely delighted last week but I certainly understand where you are coming from.

This weekend will be running errands to get ready for my trip to NYC next weekend for work. A friend is likely flying in to meet me there and take me to see a broadway show. I think we'll see Sweeney Todd. I can't wait!

Hi to everyone!

Linsley & GingerPow - at least the Eagles are having a better season that my Packers :(

We have some cleaning, cooking and relaxing on our agenda for this weekend. Maybe I can even talk DH into taking me out tomorrow night :D

Greetings from the Left Coast!

Had a miserable morning at home today...needed to cook Alex something for lunch, Michael decided to usurp my bathroom (he likes it better than the hall bath since it has natural light and is slightly larger) so I never made it to the shower! Oh well, I don't get sweaty sitting at a desk so I doubt anybody will notice.

Tonight is the 2nd to last football game. They need to win one of them to guarantee a playoff position. Hopefully it won't rain cause I'm a fair weather fan ;) Tomorrow is errands and driving the kids places. Tomorrow night is the "D" dinner at an Afghan restaurant. Sunday, I'm hosting 'Soup Night'.

Escher - good luck finding the mouse. More importantly is finding where he is getting in. According to the exterminator, mice can get in a hole the size of a dime and rats can use a hole the size of a quarter. I would love to see how their bones collapse like that (on TV in slow motion, not in person).

Blissful - glad that your husband is finally coming home. Enjoy having him home.

I'm back, and wearing a sheet on my head wasn't too hard, and I only tripped a few times. After 7 or 8 questions someone asked if my child wore glasses. It's a great question since only 2 girls wear glasses. :D Then I had lunch with 4 very silly girls! I think their teacher is a very brave man....to put up with them for 180 days a year!

Tyra,
I hate not getting a shower in the morning, even if I didn't get sweaty/dirty the day before. I feel for you today.

BTW, what's football?? :D :D :D

Kathy,
You've reminded me I need to find another girl scout soon. Cookies around here go on sale in March, but the two girl scouts that lived next door moved to South Carolina.

Minky, are you a CHEESEHEAD living in Boise? We like those, I have lots of CHEESEHEAD relatives in WI.

I feel for you on that one, one of our friends is a HUGE packers fan who has been crying for weeks now. It's very sad to see.

Robyn, you have every right to be happy, it was a phenomenal game for the Bronco's!

Blissful, so glad your husband is making it home safely, enjoy your vacation!

Leigh, good questions from the kids, I couldn't imagine being an elementary teacher.

Escher, we had a rat. We tried every humane option, and ended up having to go with a snap trap. :(

Blissful, Great news about your DH!

Tyra, good luck to Michael.

Good luck with all the cleaning, everyone! I need to clean out and get rid of my turtle pond. It's way too hard to keep clean, and the turtle doesn't like to go outside. So it's really pointless to keep the pond.

Tomorrow I have about 20 people in the backyard for rehearsal for SHINDIG! our show based on the Firefly series. I hope the weather's okay. There's not enough room in the house for all those people.

Sunday we're going to Chinatown for shopping and dim sum, followed by a trip to the fashion institute for another look at Dressing the Galaxy: the costumes of Star Wars. I'd like to pop into some of my favorite fabric shops while I'm downtown, but I don't see how I'm going to squeeze that in.

Those are strong little devices. DS had to make a catapult for his science class, and he used a rat trap (a new and clean one!) for his starting point. His final product was by far more powerful than any other in the class. His marble (projectile) shot straight up to the ceiling and then slammed into the floor a few feet away. Thank goodness all of his classmates were behind him. His model was definitely an OUTDOOR contraption!

Leigh, your morning sounds like fun! :)

Colleen - are you doing SHINDIG! for commercial/public viewing or just for friends?

Michael doesn't need the luck, the whole team does. If they play REALLY well and get a huge lead, then Michael might actually get to play. I have to admire the boys that stick with all of the practices, dressing for the games, etc when they know that the chances of them playing are next to nil. The team they are playing tonight finally has a good season and I might know some of the people since its the HS Michael would have gone to if I hadn't moved 3 years ago. They are currently 6-1 (I don't know what happened last week) so I don't think we are going to beat them but who knows...

We're doing it at a science fiction convention. It's free to members or $10 to anyone else, including an ice cream social, a show, an '80s dance, and several parties.

Well, good luck to the team, then. My high school usually only won one game per season, and always against the same team.
