View Full Version : On the floor day

Just wondering if anyone else celebrated National Everything On The Floor Day yesterday (I just declared it). Seems like my 4 yr old and I spent the morning spilling and cleaning up everything in our path. At school, they had thrown confetti as the 4th grader ran out of the building for the last time. Guess where my kids were -- on the floor picking up confetti to recyle in "projects". Went out to dinner to let the kids celebrate the beginning of their summer. Four yr old is sitting on his knees and looking at something...winds up ON THE FLOOR with the straw in his mouth cutting his tongue. Seems like there were some other things that I am forgetting now, but I spent so much time getting things off the floor, I thought I'd mark it on the calendar. SO how was your day?

HA! Come to think of it, gravity was especially strong yesterday for my toddling daughter, too!

I declare every day is "crumbs on my floor day". I just wish for one day, and one day only, that my kids would not let them fall to the floor.

funnybone...
That's why I find my crumb catcher indispensible....a 90 lb black lab cross who eats almost anything!

Can I borrow your dog BlueMoose? I'm always looking at the floor with a big sigh - at times it seems there's an entire meal down there. It's one of my hangups. Let the dust build, but keep the crumbs off my floor! If you walked into my house on any given day, you'd swear I hadn't vacuumed or swept in weeks...even my husband sighs sometimes...

I agree with you, Lindrusso! I sweep several times/day, and still my floor looks like some sort of modern art mosiac constructed of everything imaginable, from every type of food to playdoh, paint, paper scraps, etc! So annoying!!

lindrusso and Mbart...
the secret is to have a kitchen floor that camoflages (sp?) the dirt! I know how you feel...with 3 cats, a dog, and 2 kids I just can't keep up with all of the dirt, hair, and food on my floor. Ooops, I forgot to mention the 1 husband. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

I have a central vac, and some days I just leave it hooked up. When DH comes home, he wants to put it away. I tell him there's no use since the kids are still up and we haven't had dinner yet. Now that the warmer weather is here (or supposed to be here) I can kick the kids out to eat on the deck. (By the way, I have a wood floor and the crumbs are really visible.)

My floor is white tile. Everything is visible and everything breaks and/or splatters.

BTW, the same little boy who got his tongue cut by falling out of his seat with a cup in his hand and a straw in his mouth busted or bit his lip by banging his chin. That dinner two nights in a row that started with tears and a bloody mouth. It could be a long summer.
