Hi Andrea - I noticed on the Memorial day post you mentioned your friends moving to Belgium. I am currently living in Brussels {my husband and I moved here last year from NYC} and if your friends have any questions, I would be happy to help them!

Kendra,
Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness! We'll miss our friends dearly, but at the same time relish the travel opportunity. We've never been off the continent so we're excited to visit them in Belgium (and, of course, venture to Paris, London, etc.). They'll be just outside of Brussels; their address is B-1180 Uccle, Belgium, if that means anything to you.
How do you like living there? Is there anything we should send them that they can't get once they settle in? They've already requested tapes of The West Wing next season! Anyway, thanks again for thinking of our friends. Once they get there, I'll let them know of your offer. (I believe they also subscribe to CL, so there's another connection!)

My DH was in Belgium a few years ago and brought back some truffles - yummy!!! So AndreaU, "ask not what you can get for your friends, but what your friends can get for you" - lol!!!

I believe your friends will be living close to us - we live just a few minutes away. I don't miss too much from the states - and you can find most products in the local grocery stores. Although I do like to stock up on some baking items, chocolate chips, vanilla, baking powder, etc as it is quite expensive to purchase here. You are right about traveling - once you are here, it is so inexpensive to travel to Paris, London, Ireland and many other places! We have seen so much and have a long list of destinations to see before we return. One note though about sending tapes, will they be taking their american tv and vcr? If not, your tapes will not play on an european vcr {unless it is international} because the frequency is different between the two countries - sort of like the voltage! Best of luck with your friends! They will love the beer, fries, waffles and chocolates!
